That's fine. Woe is my code I should be working on. Woe to lj! I can get ranty, and ranting is more fun than coding. Usually.
Yeah, lobbying is kind of bullshit. The money == political influence crap is really hard to get around. Everyone hates lobbiests when they are saying stuff they don't like, but I sure don't mind wild life preservationists putting pressure on some congress people!
But it's flawed. In a representative system the voters should be able to put the pressure on. But the voters aren't skilled at it, they aren't specialized. So while I hope to see empowerment of voters with the use of technology I'm not sure that is enough.
Even allowing citizens to pool money behind a cause they feel worthy, to hire a specialist who knows how to play Washington politics to lobby on their behave is flawed. It is still money talking, and therefor abusable.
But sure sounds better than where we are. And perhaps that is what we should be fighting for. Not letting "Perfect" be the enemy of "Better".
Lastly, I love it when conservative talk show hosts say shit like "That's Class Warfare!". Your damn fucking right it is class warfare. The wealthy have been winning, but lets not forget when the peasants rise up, the oligarchs and patriarchs don't usually end well. The price of power abuse may not happen in your generation but in human history, it seems to come around once in a while.
So yeah, we already have class warfare.
