i agree with your synopsis the best. the original plan probably was for jin to return after the first set of concerts. however, his sponsor picked him up for additional shows in the us. we don't know, but since rumor has it that will have tours in 2011 as well, we do know that when given the option of being with the group or doing solo activities, jin chooses solo.

so looking at the opportunities based simply on time, jin has been away f/ kat-tun since may, has not worked with them since then, and presumably will not work with them in between the time of his tours in 2010 and 2011.

1+2=3 people, he's only human and cannot serve 2 masters. it's one or the other, and clearly he chose being solo. and johnny is right, it's not fair to kat-tun to base all of their activities on what jin is doing. to be honest, he probably cares little about the fan reaction, in comparison to making sure kat-tun can continue. he probably just mentioned them as a formality.

furthermore, i know that this forum is filled w/ non native english and japanese speakers, but as a rule, it's hard to really understand what a japanese person is saying in a written announcement, b/c their words and intentions are not easily translatable in english. the simple fact that he said "it was decided" could just be due to the fact that he didn't include a pronoun in the sentence, because it was implied in the earlier sentences. i didn't analyze the original japanese b/c i have stuff 2 do, and really don't understand y this is such a big deal, but u really can't take the english translation as the gospel and use it as evidence as to why jin really wants to be in kat-tun.

bottom line is, he said he is going solo at this point, maybe they will have another announcement later in the year to further clarify the obvious, but if not y'all need to get over it, and stop pretending like 26 yr old grown man jin is some prisoner in johnny's fortress.
