It was a quiet morning, mainly because Aria wasn't well (she has come down with a bad cold) and spent the morning in bed watching Bluey, plus Violet and Eden had a robotics class at 10 for an hour or so. It was supposed to be in person but a few days beforehand they were notified that it would be online, so they each had a computer to connect via Zoom. They said they enjoyed it, but Violet said it wasn't really about robots, it was about creating circuits or something, which I assured her was definitely relevant to robots. I think she was expecting to learn how to make the physical "body" of a robot. Anyway, I think this was a test to see how popular the class would be, and now the girls are signed up for more sessions.
I left just after 12:30 pm and had an uneventful drive to my motel. I was settled in the room by about 3:30 pm. The main problem was that the sun is so low at this time of year that it was glaring into my eyes for some of the way. Even though I travelled at the exact same time of day back in August, I didn't encounter that problem because of the sun being much higher. As predicted, it stopped snowing by about mid morning yesterday and the afternoon was clear and sunny enough to melt a lot of the accumulation, so today turned out to be perfect for driving. In fact, my car thermometer was reading 42°F/6°C, although it felt a bit colder than that when I got out of the car at a rest stop and at the motel.
The location of this motel right beside I-95 is convenient, but one big drawback is that there are no food places handy. If I wanted to drive to a restaurant, I would have to get back onto the road (off I-95) by a rather circuitous route and drive some distance, whereas I would much prefer to be able to walk to somewhere not too far away. I've solved the problem by buying prepackaged food I can heat in the microwave, but I would prefer to have more options. The motel does serve a free buffet breakfast, but the quality is not what it used to be.
