My vacuum cleaner is doing something odd - the on-off button won't work any more and I can't turn it off except by pulling the power cord out of the socket. It still works, but if one part is malfunctioning I'm not sure how long it will be until the whole thing stops working. I've ordered a new one just in case, because the current one is at least ten years old, if not older. (I can't remember exactly when we bought it, because it was so long ago.)

About two years ago I was having fairly bad nose bleeds and I saw an ENT doctor who cauterised a vein in my nose. He said it would possibly need to be re-done at some point, and now seems to be that time. I had one moderately heavy nose bleed while my daughter and family were here at Halloween, and today I had another milder one while I was out walking. So I went onto the Kaiser website to see if I could schedule an appointment with the ENT guy, but I didn't get the option. Then I tried to schedule a phone appointment with my primary care doctor to get a referral, but I couldn't do that either. I get so frustrated with Kaiser sometimes. They don't care about you until you're in dire straits. Eventually I chatted with an advice nurse, whose best advice was I need to call the Specialty Line to ask for either an appointment or a referral (I'm not sure which).

I'm a bit concerned that just as I've got enrolled in Medicare, it's going to be managed by Dr Oz. What could possibly go wrong? (Well, maybe he won't get confirmed, but I'm not holding my breath.)
