Hello From Vancouver
Hi, flist! Miss me?
Having a lovely time here in Vangroovey as they say. Arrived late Wednesday, crashed and was up early for a day trip to whale watch, go to Victoria (ate at Rick's), and go to Butchart Gardens. Rained off and on (all through Butchart but still got a few lovely shots).
Thursday, had a lie in. Finally ate at Denny's around 11 or 12. My friend E and I had to work our volunteer shift Thursday afternoon and went directly into our volunteers meeting. We ended up at Denny's again for dinner. Had a trainee erver in the morning and a 2-week veteran in the evening; service lacked both times but food was fine (when they got the orders right).
During my volunteer shift (spent in dealer's room handing out pre-ordered shirts among other things), triciabyrne1978 brought jacksrubberduck and sg1clari by and I got to *crashtacklepouncehug* them. I also got to *crashtacklepouncehug* Tel/Lex (my seat buddy from AT3), I mean Dr. Tel/Lex.
Some went to the meet & greet Thursday night. lilferret had arrived and went to that. triciabyrne1978, jacksrubberduck and sg1clari all went.
lilferret and I waited for the grand ballroom to open Friday morning at the in-hotel Starbucks. (Oh, and Aud my darling, I did deliver your *crashtacklepouncehug* to triciabyrne1978 on your behalf there yesterday (Friday) morning. She said to tell you not to worry about the man who was all tied up that they sent you...?)
My seat is #189. The seats are divided into four sections across the ballroom. I can't guess well how many seats across but I think about 10-12 in each section, so 40-60 seats across - seems like a lot so probably toward the higher end. (Someone had stayed up until 2am putting little pieces of tape on the chairs to number them.) My seat is sort of toward the center, not dead on, but within 7 or 8 seats, I think. I'm in the third section from the entrance. Chairs are set next to one another, so it's pretty "cozy" (i.e., totally uncomfortable for everyone who isn't thin and surrounded by thin people unless someone isn't in their seat). lilferret and went to dinner at Moxie's grill and bar type place. triciabyrne1978 called to see where we were, but she and the others didn't join us because they had eaten there a few days before. They didn't think the food was all that great, but we all loved our meals and shared a blackberry crisp a la mode for dessert. lilferret stopped at a sex shop on the way back for handcuffs.
When we got back to the room, we looked through lilferret's photos of the panel. She got some good shots, though she was not impressed with them. I haven't even downloaded mine yet. Was too tird last night.
lilferret is participating in the costume parade and had to get up, as she described it "at the b*tt-crack of dawn" to be at Tel's room to get made up. I got up at 6:45 to use the loo and stayed up. Roomie L's alarm went off about 7, so she got upto bathe and get ready. Roomie E is now in possession of the little room. Hope she hurries cuz the parade's in 30 minutes...
Back to yesterday and Mr. A. Apparently he was in a really good mood for the first 150 VIP photos yesterday. He joked around and was jovial. Also, Wylie was there at one point, and he wanted a photo with her. She didn't want to cooperate, but he grabbed her and snuggled. Roomie L is a Legends volunteer and told me; she said it was so cute but that any other woman in the room would have gladly had him grab them like that for a photo! :D
