Getting excited about San Diego Comic-Con.
I poured over the schedule today looking for other things I might like to see. Thursday, There's some Star Trek session (which indicates some "special surprise guests") as well as a screening of "Free Enterprise" that evening, or should I say "night" because it's 10pm to midnight.
Friday, Richard Hatch from BSG will do a panel on what he's up to these days in the morning. Then there's a panel on Friday afternoon for Battlestar Galactica with Mary McDonnell (President Roslin), James Callis (Dr. Gaius Baltar), Jamie Bamber (Apollo), Katee Sackoff (Starbuck), and Grace Park (Boomer), and for that one, there's a raffle to win a "meet and greet" with the actors after the panel.
Adam Baldwin (Col. Dixon from SG-1 episode "Heroes") is going to be there Friday for a panel on "The Inside" - " The Inside explores the dark intricacies of FBI investigative work, as well as the personal sacrifices required of Rebecca Locke and her Violent Crimes Unit teammates as they move from one gruesome serial crime to the next." (Sounds like "Profiler" to me...)
They're actually playing the season premieres of SG-1, SGA and BSG Friday night, so they don't lose con-goers, I guess.
On Saturday morning, Shaun Cassidy will have a panel to discuss "Invasion". Some of the groups - such as this panel - specifically indicate the times they will be signing autographs (or at which booth, if not in the autograph hall), but it doesn't say anything for the Stargate crew. (And there are several references to checking on-site for updates re: location & time changes.)
The SG-1/SGA panel is at noon on Saturday - and I'm wondering if they're going to do two separate panels or one combined, because it says:
Appearing on both panels are Brad Wright and Robert Cooper, executive producers/writers, and Tony Optican VP, development and current programming for SCI FI." SG-1 actors include Amanda Tapping, Beau Bridges and Ben Browder. From SGA, we have Joe Flanigan (Maj. John Sheppard), Torri Higginson (Dr. Elizabeth Weir), Rachel Luttrell (Teyla Emmagan), David Hewlett (Dr. Rodney McKay), Paul McGillion (Dr. Carson Beckett), and Jason Momoa as Ronon Dex.
If I'm done with SG-1/SGA autogs (if they happen) by 3:30 that afternoon, there's a Sony presentation on 3 new features, one of which includes Kate Beckinsale ("Much Ado About Nothing", "Van Helsing"), and at 4:30 there's a panel on "The Simpsons" (That's just the creator and producers, none of the voice actors.)
Sunday there's a Christian Comics meeting/fellowship, a panel with TV/movie tie-in novelists (that write books based on) and a sneak peek at the new series on CBS this fall, "Threshold" with former ST producer Brannon Braga and among the cast is Brent Spiner from ST:TNG and Charles Dutton from "Roc" among others. I probably will forego the novelists in favor of seeing "Data". If he's signing autographs after, I'll probably miss the panel on "The 4400", but it would be a tough call if Robert Picardo was going to be there for "The 4400", too!
There are a good half dozen other things I find interesting that are happening all at times these others happen - or when I possibly would be looking to get an autograph from someone. (I never expected to be someone who collected those like I do!)
Have I bored you yet? If you want to go look at the schedule and see if I missed anything - or if there's someone you especially want me to try to squeeze in seeing and getting you an autog - let me know. Here's the URL:
