Lazy Sunday

Yesterday was a pretty good day. I woke up around 9-ish and decided to accompany my mom to my dad's soccer game. He plays in a coed league meant for adults and has been since on and off since 1985. We went ot the game, watched my dad play and then came back to our house. We then decided to all go to the team's barbecue to get some grub. I had a hot dog and a hamburger and it was soooooo very good. AFterward, Matt and I went to see V For Vendetta. My apologies Sara but I loved it. I thought it was highly entertaining and made you think. It probably is better that I didn't read the graphic novel before going in. I think maybe now I'll try to pick it up and see what the differences were. It so interesting how there can be such disparity between a work's source material and the work itself. I guess if its as different as Sarah says it is then its no wonder Alan Moore wished to disassociate himself from it. This really kinda enforces the idea that adapted works should really be taken on their own and not in conjunction with their source material. Instead they should, perhaps, be a bridge to that source material, encouraging moviegoers to read more. And speaking of reading...

After we watched the movie, Matt and I went to Barnes & Noble to find a book that he could read for class. I was pretty disspointed in B&N because out of the entire list of about ten books, they only had four, and none of the ones Matt wanted. Actually, I use the word "wanted" in its barest sense because Matt hates reading. Really he hates a lot of things about school right now. He doesn't really have any friends to hang with, he doesn't particularly enjoy any subjects, at least he won't admit it. Its kinda sad. I hope he grews out of this.

After B&N we went back home for a great dinner of pork roast with teryaki sauce. Delish. I then called and made plans with some friends for later in the week and spent the rest of the evening playing video games. A good day if I ever saw one.
