They're idiots, you know. Your intuition told you it was a shitty job; they actually did you a favor and confirmed it.
Yeah, but I'm only getting $50/week unemployment...I'd have rather been getting a real paycheck and looking for someplace else to work at the same time...
I know the real reason they let me go is because they feel I complained about the training and lack of breaks...but only once did I say something about breaks in front of the Team Lead who was in the HR office when I was fired. The rest of the time it was to Golden Boy, who's ostensibly there to FIX problems, and who went out of his way to SOLICITE our opinion on what we thought about the training.
Nothing I said about the training and the trainers wasn't anything that my fellow newbies hadn't said also, but the fact that Golden Boy was also in the HR office when I was fired to me shows that HE is the one who was the root cause of it. Bolstered by the fact that after the lame "it's because you didn't ask enough questions in yesterday's training" line, the Team Lead then stressed that the training is the way it is to basically give us a taste of the "real world" of their customer service. So obviously their real gripe is that *I* griped about the training.
And DON'T tell future interviewers about it. This was just a blip.
To me it was just a temporary job, if I have to say anything about it at all.
Actually, I think it was on Thursday that 2 of the team leads (including the one in the HR office when I was fired) laughingly told us about the time they had 4 temps starting the training, and how two of of the temps just went out for lunch on the second day of training and never came back because they couldn't take it...
The company should stick with taking on temp-to-perm people instead of the charade of "direct hire", if indeed what I was told, that the first week is really an "evaluation" where they decide by Friday who's to stay and who's to go, is the reality. At least doing temp-to-perm would be more honest, a worker would know that at least in the first few weeks they might be let go even before being able to get on the phones.
Honey, I know being employed is better than unemployment. I hope you didn't take what I said as sounding too glib. But that's a dysfunctional environment. The fact they let you go sooner rather than later means you can concentrate on finding the right place. I'm hugging you right now. I wish you all the best.
