[[At Rurutia's magic show]]
[[Jun gets a job!]]

Rurutia stared out at the crowd, she was no longer Yumiko Takagawa, no right now she was RURUTIA the magician girl. It was her first performance that she had been able to get, a semi-regular job at a bar that usually had bands but was changing it up.
They would probably get tired of her in a month but it was better than nothing, and she had already secured a day job at the Imperial Garden. It was never hard for her to get a job as a waitress, people were always impressed by her very charismatic nature.
“I hope everyone enjoyed my first performance in Tokyo. As you can see I’m still lacking a lovely assistant and I’d like to get a boy to play such a part. You will get a small cut of the pay and you can learn some of my secrets if you work hard enough.” The highly made up woman winked at the audience and then bowed. “Thank you all for coming!”
Jun had decided to come to the magic show on a whim but once he saw the show he was quite pleased he did it. He hadn’t seen a good magic show in a while and missed go to them with his mother. The magician girl was pretty good and kept his attention the whole time, and now she was asking about an assistant job? Jun knew he had plenty of free time because even though his father didn’t say so he knew the man wanted nothing to do with him.
He stood from his seat and went to catch the woman before she left. Maybe he could get the job and learn the woman’s secrets of the magician.
”Excuse me,” he called to the woman.
Rurutia looked up, still fully costumed as she couldn’t change until everyone left, she wouldn’t show any of the audience her real persona. There was a boy, only a bit taller than her short stature and kind of rough and tumble cute.
His expression seemed to have a bit of an attitude problem.
“Yes?” She replied, smiling sweetly at him.
“I wanted to be your assistant,” he said crossing his arms with a nod. He figured no one else would ask to do such a thing so he was sure he’d get the job. If he didn’t well he’d just have to beat out the other person who was going to he her assistant. Simple as that. He tried to put a smile on his but when he smiled it was always odd so he tried his best not to frown.
Rurutia raised her eyebrow. Yes… Yes she believed that Jun would be the perfect assistant, a perfect boy to humiliate in front of a crowd just as women had been humiliated for years.
“Do you think you’re up for it? It’s hard work and highly secretive,” she replied, challenging, hoping he would reply being obstinate and stubborn, so she would have the right to boss him around and embarrass him.
“Yeah I can do it,” he growled saying. He hated hearing people try to talk him out of doing thing he knew he was capable of doing. A frown formed on his face as his arms stayed cross. Who would he blab magic secrets to anyway? Kei? Jui? They would only laugh at him. He would have to keep it secret for his own sake.
“I’m Matsumoto. Jun Matsumoto.” He removed his hands from their crossed sat and gave a small bow. At least he had some manners.
Rurutia shook his hand. “I’m Rurutia, you’ll learn my real name when I make sure you’re serious about your job.” She brought it to her mouth and air kissed it, treating him like a lady already. “But anyway, Jun, welcome to the club, shall we discuss things at that table over there?” She pointed at a table in an empty corner. There were many specifics that needed to be sorted out but Jun Matsumoto was pretty much hired.
She didn’t think she would be so lucky to find a boy like him to torture.
The boy made a face at the kiss on his hand before getting distracted by looking at the table the woman had indicated. He nodded his head and moved his hand to go sit at the table. Hopefully the woman wouldn’t do anything else as weird as kissing his hand. He only saw that stuff in movies and stuff and only the men did it. This woman was kind of weird..
Rurutia chuckled to herself at Jun’s expression and sat down at the table. “Things are rather loose in this job, I will have a contract drawn up about privacy and you will be paid under the counter after I cash the check given to me by the owner of bars others who higher me to perform. Your time to work will be random and usually at night, until we get more popular. Are you still up for it?”
The highly dressed woman leaned back and studied the riff raff of a boy. It wasn’t the best job ever but how could someone pass up the chance to work with a magician?
“I said I’d do it so quit asking me if I’m up for it!” He frowned more as he looked at the woman. He already said yes so why was she constantly trying to talk him out of it. He wanted to learn how to do magic and he didn’t care if it was at night. He would just tell his father he got a night job if anyone asked.
”Just tell me what I have to do.”
Rurutia laughed. “It’s a deal if you promise to do everything I say, magic is a tricky business and everything.” She held out her hand for a handshake. “Once we shake we can exchange numbers and I can call you when I have the contract together and when I have jobs.” Her eyes bored into his, keeping eye contact, seeing if he would turn away or hold it.
The boy shook the woman’s hand, hoping in the back of his head she wasn’t going to kiss his hand again. He was a man and men did not get kissed on the hand. A small smile was on his face though, he was glad he was going to be working with a magician.
”Do we have to practice or anything?” He didn’t want to just go into a show not knowing any of the tricks and messing up the performance.
“Oh yes, of course, though not until I tell my roommate that I’m a magician, and not until I get you to sign that contract so that you’re are legally bound not to tell anyone about my real name or where I live.” Rurutia smiled and took a pen from her secret pocket, as if out of thin air, writing her number on a piece of paper. She was always practicing truly. “Write your name down and we shall take our leave.”
“Yeah okay,” he answered as he wrote down his name and number, passing back the paper. Hopefully the woman could read it because his hand writing wasn’t the best but he didn’t care. He looked at the paper with his boss’ name on it and put it in his cell phone. He had a feeling he would lose the paper before he even left the building so it was best to put it in his phone right at the moment.
Rurutia nodded and took it. “See you later, Jun!” She winked at him and went to the back room where all her stuff was settled out. The nicknames would start after the contract was signed, after everything was settled after Jun was determined to say.
Her career was starting to get somewhere.
