Kana & Noa
First meeting
Jumbo Store
G

Same thing every time. Like clock work. Same bag. Same path. Same reason for going. It's so simple. Kana clings onto her shopping bag and walks as quickly as she can towards the entrance of the Jumbo Store. The wind blew in her face, sweeping a short piece of hair across her face and slicing across her pouty lips. No matter how much she tried to push it out of her way the wind simply blew it back the way it was before. After walking the whole way, this routine had become tiresome, so she just left it the way nature appeared to want it.

Once the store was in sight, she picked up the pace and walked towards the enormous automatic doors, which signaled the entrance to the store. She knew exactly what she wanted when she got there, she always bought the same things. Hopefully this would be a quick shop so that she could return back home as soon as she could.

This was his secret place.

A place that only he could come to when he wasn’t around, a place only he could come to when he wasn’t commandeering all his time. This was his secret place, and it must remain as such. The white walls and the bright lights overhead, the chattering people that would never have conformed to his wishes, the rows upon rows of what he would call mediocre merchandise.

But this was his secret place, and he loved it, and all because of one thing.
Candy.

Isles and isle, rows and rows of colorful confectionary sugar just waiting to be bought and tasted, just waiting to be devoured, just waiting for him. And wait they always did. Waiting there so patiently until the dark haired boy adult came to claim them, came to love them. They were hidden in his secret place, and they were always waiting for him.

“I love you.”

As she walked past, she couldn't help but stop. "I love you", she thought. What a strange thing to say. He wasn't obviously talking to anyone, he was just looking at the shelves. Kana stifled her laughter but didn't want to draw attention to herself. Stood there. Wanting to stare.

Candy, she was never a fan. She could never see the appeal of pure sugar. Looking down the aisle she saw what appeared to be infinite amounts sugary treats in all colors and sizes. She grabbed the nearest thing and shoved it in her shopping bag. A small chocolate bar, nothing too special. Just plain. She couldn't help but look up at the man who loved. His eyes were so wide and strangely appealing. His hair....

His hair.

She wanted to just reach out and touch it, but she daren't.

By this point, the colorful balls of sugar has clouded his brain to the point that he cannot think of anything but the candy, cannot see anything but the multitude of colors, cannot smell anything but the overpowering scent of sugar, cannot taste anything but it melting on his mouth.

“So very much…”

Step by step back, desperate to take in more of the colorful array. A pivot of feet until he’s crashing into something solid and warm and all he can do is stand there, pressed against whatever that something was, eyes wide and wondering.

Panic. Panic.

Kana jumped back and held her fragile hands over her mouth, wanting to scream out. Wanting to fight back. It had been so long since she'd been touched, accidentally or voluntarily. It made her want to run away, made her want to scream.

Be normal.
Be normal.

She repeated in her head. Her hands over her mouth, she gasped for breath.

And then that warmth was gone and he was already regretting the loss, the loss of something he didn’t even know the name of the, the origin of, something he had no idea what it even was.

Pivot more and all he can do now is stare at the girl in lacy frills. All he can do is stare, and smile. “Hello! I’m Noa!”

The boy with the childish personality that would be your friend for like if only he would permit it.

Kana shook with almost child like fear of this stranger. "Hello", she whispered with a tremble in her voice and she turned away. She took a few steps forward then looked at the intriguing man over her shoulder. Blushing. She clutched onto her bag, opened it slowly. Reaching in, she took the chocolate bar she had picked up to hide herself from being noticed and placed it back on the shelf. There was no need for it now. He had made sure of that.

Dark eyes watch the process, watch the chocolate being put back on the shelf, watch the nervousness but don’t really get it. And after a moment, all he can do is nod happily, turning that same child like smile on the girl.

“That’s a bad brand.” An almost stern expression now, hands coming up to point excitedly at another section of the shelf. “Not sweet at all!” One of the many remaining bars, one he had been pointing at was taken and held out with that same oblivious smile.

“This is much better!” And still the dark haired male didn’t get any of it.

"Uhnm"

Why was he talking to her?
What's wrong with him?

"Thank you", she said, embarrassed by the whole situation. She reached out her hand and clasped the recommended chocolate before glaring at the floor, not knowing whether to walk away or wait for her "companion" to do so.

But Noa is still all smiles, still all naïve stupidity and for awhile all he can do is smile and smile some more, still not sure what to do or say or anything.

“What other types of candies do you like?” He could recommend any number, any type, any anything. But not really, because he had to leave soon, as painful as it was, it wouldn’t do if he were gone to long from him.

But still all he could do was smile.

She was taken aback by his question. He was still talking to her. Why would he want to do that?

"Uhm"

One day she would talk without hesitating.

"I don't really like candy."

The smile fell away and now all Noa can do is really frown at that little piece of information. Not like candy? Was that even possible? It wasn’t in Noa’s book.

Frown, and frown some more before he’s finally smiling, and digging through his pockets to pull out a wallet that’s far to childish, even in it’s wear, quite a number of pieces of paper money overflowing, but he didn’t even seem to notice.

A quick wave and his own basket was picked up. “Bye then lady~!”

"Uhm"

Again.

"Bye"

She turned away quickly, filled with thoughts of this.... man? Boy might have been more.... appropriate. He was intriguing. She turned back to see him, still near her, with his little basket.

Another wave, another small smile that’s charming even in its stupidity and Noa’s finally turning, finally heading back towards the check-out. He really had to get back, he could already feel his questioning gaze, and he didn’t like it.

“See you soon!” But he probably wouldn’t, the view of her when he finally rounded the corner would probably be his very last.

noa, log, kana
