[Bike Ride]

Day one two three four five six nine million and a half of going crazy mad with energetic rage; Satsuki had spent what felt like an infinite amount of days or years or centuries slitting his wrists and watching the sun move. He'd run through his house, sat in his kitchen and stared at the fridge, dialed JJ's number fourteen times and hang up. It was unclear why he couldn't call, but...

reasons were just superficial.
Maybe he just didn't want to see anyone worth seeing?

Maybe he didn't want to see himself anymore?

He pulled his shirt off and covered the mirror in his bathroom before wandering back into the living room to look out the window some more. Normalcy, left and right, up and down; kids playing with dogs and parents giving each other distant looks. Sometimes, he wanted to be them, but most of the time he just wanted to kill them.

Ryouhei knocked on the door rather impatiently. He had just stolen some kid’s bike and pedaled all the way to Satsuki’s house with a backpack filled with random worldly goodies.

He had decided to spend quite a few days at his new best friend’s house.
Whether or not Satsuki actually considered the girly boy his best friend.

The prostitute could care less.

The bike was recklessly laying across the grass in front of the blonde’s house and Ryouhei impatiently tapped his foot.

A knock at the door, probably JJ or the mailman. Either way, Satsuki didn't too much feel like talking to anyone, but JJ could probably calm him down...

He sighed, running a hand through his orangeish blondeish hair and standing up to greet whoever it was. The door was pulled open almost harshly to see him.

...Him.
Ha, right. Even in pants Ryouhei-chan looked like a girl.

"Hey, lovey. What can I do for you today?" Satsuki grinned at the prostitute though his eyes were doing anything but smiling.

“Lend my your house, your couch, and your central heating?” Ryouhei replied fluttering his eyelashes. It was starting to get fucking cold out in the world.

“I even stole a bike so I could make such a request from you.” Yes, the prostitute was in a rather poetic mood today. Maybe it was because he had gotten a ton of money last night… yes he did think it was that.

Thank god for gigantic pay rolls.

"Lend you?" Satsuki tilted his head, eyes wide and insane as he looked Ryouhei over. "Are you asking to live here or crash here for the night?"

Or a week?
Or a month?

Satsuki didn't care. Ryouhei knew what he was there for and knew when to leave the maniac alone, and therefore it was fine fine fine.

“Just for a couple of days, that okay, bozo?” The last word was said in rather odd English, but it was easily comprehensible.

Ryouhei went inside but eyed Satsuki’s appearance. He seemed to be rather hyper today. “How are you feeling right now?” Ryouhei liked it when Satsuki acted like this. He was amusing beyond belief.

"I'm just..."

completely and utterly mad, though that was totally clear

"...lovely." Satsuki stood back to let Ryouhei into his house. "Excellent. So damn awesome that I could slit someone's throat and not remember five minutes later."

Someday, he'd wonder how the prostitute wasn't scared of him.

"And how are you?" A small smile. "How much does your body go for these days?" Oh, so cruel- not that it mattered, because Ryouhei wouldn't care... which was why they made perfect friends.

“MMmmm more than you’d want to pay, so wanna go biking or something?” It was random, and ADD, but it just seemed to fit in a conversation with hyper Satsuki.

Ryouhei dumped his stuff on Satsuki’s awesome couch and started to head out back towards the bike without even waiting for an answer.

He assumed Satsuki would like to be entertained in any way possible.

Satsuki had no idea how appealing such an idea would be until it slipped through Ryouhei's lips. Sure, in the past few weeks he'd ridden around Akachou more times than he could count, but he'd been alone. Free, but still...

Deadly alone.

The combination of teasing Ryouhei while riding a bike lifted his spirits just enough to make some of the insanity melt into a genuine thrill. "Oi, don't leave without me." He followed Ryouhei outside to unchain his own bike, bought on sale at Jusco to make his life so much more bearable.

Ryouhei laughed as he picked up the rather odd colored bike and hopped up on it. “Can you keep up with me, shortie?” He smirked and started to ride off.

Bike rides were nice when it was cold and before it started to snow.

It was hard to bike in the snow.
Ryouhei also hoped that the kid who he had stolen the bike from hadn’t seen him or had big friends who could beat him up.

Satsuki sighed as he watched Ryouhei pedal off before he could even climb on his bike. "You're a cheap pile of shit!"

...Oh, well. Who the fuck cared? He jumped on and pedaled quickly to catch up with the prostitute.

"I've got the advantage of mania over you," he said calmly, not even looking at Ryouhei. "I haven't slept in three days and I still feel like I'm running on Red Bull." Such an inaccurate way to describe that kind of torture.

“….I’LL FIGHT TILL THE END!” Ryouhei screamed loudly as he pedaled more. He didn’t even care that people were asleep at this time of night. It was their own fault for sleeping at ten PM like normal people.

Ryouhei didn’t understand how anyone could fall asleep that early in the evening.

He speeded past houses happily.

Satsuki laughed harshly as he sped past Ryouhei, giving the brunette one small glance before peering ahead. He felt slightly more... together. Something about the cool air that night, or just the action of riding at such a speed...

...or Ryouhei...
His friend. Satsuki liked him a whole lot if only for the fact that he embraced his disorder rather than avoiding him... or, rather, he just didn't care.

Didn't care about anything, really. Which was made him cool.

Well dammit… Ryouhei scowled. Satsuki was a fast little bugger.

Dammit, dammit, dammit.

“OI I WILL STILL WIN,” he yelled as he fell more and more behind Satsuki.

……

The brunette started to pedal faster and faster, barely keeping up with his manic friend.

Satsuki peered back at the brunette with a small smirk lighting his features. "You're so determined to win. What are we winning? What's the prize?"

He knew very well that there was no reason other than for the sake of screaming about something, but he liked to be difficult. Liked to argue. Especially on nights like this one.

He slowed down just slightly, though it took a bit of effort. Really, he just wanted to speed along until all of his energy was gone, and then he wanted to sleep in the grass... but that wasn't really what friends were meant to do. Right?

“Pride dammit, I will win FOR PRIDE AND ACHIEVEMENT AND..” Satsuki was slowing down. The only reason Ryouhei realized this is from the fact that he had just randomly passed the other man.

“And… …..” Ryouhei couldn’t think of anything else. “And the loser gets to be the winners slave for a week?”

Satsuki rolled his eyes. "Even if I were to win, I doubt I could avoid being forced into indentured servitude by you. You just moved into my house for some amount of time, remember?" He himself had no use for a temporary slave, since half of the enjoyment he got out of life was organizing and reorganizing and doing his own work, but... whatever.

"Okay. Whatever you want, princess."

And he sped off again.

Ryouhei almost didn’t realize that Satsuki had sped up, so he almost lost him before he was able to speed up himself to catch up to the other man.

“HEY,” he started to yell, “ARE YOU BLIND!? I’M NOT A PRINCESS, I’M A WHORE THANK YOU VERY MUCH!” Ryouhei laughed after saying that and continued to speed up so he could at least attempt to pass the blonde.

He didn’t even know where they were anymore they had ridden so far so fast.

"Stop yelling," Satsuki mumbled, though it really wasn't all that annoying so long as he had somewhere to direct his energy. "Princess, whore... what, you're insulted by an upgrade?"

He turned a sharp corner for no reason whatsoever other than to see if Ryouhei would get lost. He was pretty sure that no matter where they went they could make it back to his house. He could, at least.

Ryouhei turned the corner as fast as Satsuki and squealed when he almost wiped out.

…….

Dammit, he had just squealed. “That noise you just heard, it wasn’t me I swear,” he protested though it was obvious that it had been him.

“And I find the status of princess being under the status of whore.”

"That proves that it was you." Satsuki grinned. "And it just makes you even more of a princess, princess. Or maybe you're more of a queen. I'm not sure yet."

He laughed softly, feeling a million times better than any stupid medicine could make him. Maybe he should make his new life plan to be a psychologist. Exercise worked much better for any problem than pills, or hours and hours of therapy... trying to describe to someone who didn't care what was wrong.

Ryouhei slowed down trying to think of what to say to that.

Of course he couldn’t think of a good comeback so he started rushing again and screamed. “I AM NOT ROYALTY DAMMIT, PEOPLE PAY ME FOR SEX!”

Yes that was a sufficient enough comeback. Especially since Ryouhei was not in the mood to think, and he was hyper.

Satsuki's grin widened. "Could be worse. People could pay you to stay away from them."

He closed his eyes, paying little attention to what was ahead of him- including the tree that he swore wasn't there until he crashed into it, wiping out completely and landing in a rather sad patch of grass with a small yelp.

He opened his eyes for a few seconds, alarmed by the fact that he felt no pain whatsoever- yet.

"...Motherfucker."

Ryouhei skidded to a stop, falling to his own ass as he fell off the bike himself. He ran over to Satsuki.

“What the fuck did you do, stupid ass?” Ryouhei put his hands to his hips and shook his head.

Satsuki was so different at times like this.

"Are you blind?" Satsuki laughed, shaking slightly as he pulled himself into a sitting position. "I crashed into a tree. And now my brain is probably bleeding, but it's cool." He felt nothing, though his ears were ringing and he seemed to be bleeding all over the place.

"Oh, well..." He shook his head a few times and stood up. "If you fall, you get up and try again. Or, at least, that's what they told me in grade school."

“Yeah you’re fine…” Ryouhei raised an eyebrow as he surveyed Satsuki. “…that’s of course why there’s a trail of blood on your arms that seems to be getting bigger. Shouldn’t we do something about that?” Luckily for Satsuki, that seemed to be the only big problem.

Ryouhei himself had a nice bruised ass from his on tumble, unluckily he had gone down on the sidewalk, unlike Satsuki who had gone down on a nice grassy patch.

Let’s just say, the prostitute had a little hole in the butt of his pants now.

"I bleed regularly. I can handle it." Satsuki ran a hand over his bleeding arm and wiped his hand on the tree, even though that was counterproductive since it didn't stop the bleeding and now he just had a huge smear on his arm. "Especially from the arms. I don't even need band-aids to survive. Cool, huh?"

What good were bandaids, anyway? Aside from hiding scars. And he had plenty of shirts for that, which were even more convenient now that it was getting cooler. Satsuki loved autumn, especially when he was in his right mind- which was rare, but there were times.

Ryouhei rolled his eyes. “Well, I don’t want to get any blood on my clothes, so don’t touch me with your icky arm.” He stuck his tongue out and picked up his bike. “So are we going to keep going?... Where the hell are we anyway?”

Not that Ryouhei had a bad sense of direction, he just… didn’t know where they were.

Oops?

The brunette picked Satsuki’s bike up and handed it to him.

Satsuki just shrugged. "I don't know. We've ended up in one of the forests or something. Civilization is miles away."

Did he feel like continuing on? Not really; he was sort of coming down, could feel a tiny tingle of pain through every part of his body. He sort of wanted to spend the night in the forest, even though that was beyond stupid and dangerous.

"...Wanna just sit here for a while?"

He knew he'd end up falling asleep... but that was a good thing. If a murderer came by, Ryouhei could wake him up.

Ryouhei raised his eye at the sudden change in attitude. Satsuki was a weird one. “All right then.” The brunette plopped down beside the smaller man and laid down, effectively covering the tear in his khakis.

“So how have you been today?”

Ah yes, the power of a conversation starter.

"I've been...."

craaaaaaaaaaaaaaazy- three days could have all melted into one and he wouldn't have even noticed the change of date. Funny how ironic such a simple question could appear.

"...terrible. How about you?" Satsuki felt no need to lie to Ryouhei as he would neither pry nor accuse Satsuki of seeking attention. Friends who cared just enough were the best kind- they weren't overly worried, but they weren't complete assholes.

“I’m rolling in cash for the moment, lucked out last night you see.” Ryouhei smirked at Satsuki. “So has my ever blessed presence improved your attitude at all?”

The prostitute was expecting the answer to be ‘no’. He liked Satsuki, he was honest.

You didn’t find honesty very often when you were poor like Ryouhei… and if you were a prostitute.

Satsuki just shrugged. "Maybe." He didn't care either about winning Ryouhei's heart with flattery or hiding the fact that he actually genuinely liked the guy. Really, he didn't know what made his mind do what it did. Something would've put an end to it, calmed him down...

...but the bike ride, at least, had helped speed up the process.

Now, he just felt a bit numb, overtired- which was really very much an improvement.

Ryouhei stared at Satsuki. “Hey… if you got the chance to change Akachou for the better would you take it?”

Laying in the grass, at night, with only the sounds of animals and the wind around him, made the brunette feel rather… contemplative.

He tried not to get like this very often though.. he hated it when he thought too much, life got harder it seemed.

"Huh?" What an odd question. "I... I don't know. Probably." He didn't care so much about bettering Akachou as he cared about filtering it. Getting rid of the illness that was most of the population. Sick, mindless people who had bank accounts that far exceeded the size of their brains.

It was so disgusting. He longed for the day he'd be able to move out of Japan and into Europe where everything was slower and brighter and without the constant pressure to blend in.

"Why?"

“No reason.” Ryouhei frowned in thought…

“If….” He started, a small smile growing on his face. “If you were in charge of a huge mass of murdering yakuza who would you kill?”

Ryouhei liked asking “what if” questions. He probably would continue to do so until Satsuki smacked him.

Satsuki frowned. The questions keep getting odder, which would have been okay if Satsuki weren't really starting to want to sleep. His mind felt blank and mushy, which left little room for thoughts of murder, but... oh well.

"I... don't know." The frown deepened. "Rich businessmen, I guess. And... rapists and that sort of people. I guess." He bit his lip, aware that the subject could get personal if he didn't shut up. "...What about you?"

“Idols. Models. People who do what I do, but don’t get any bull for it. And everyone’s that’s ever taken advantage of whores. Maybe I’m just vengeful, but I always have such an urge to kill when I see one of my…co-workers come back beaten and bleeding.”

Ryouhei frowned and looked up at the trees and stars.

“I guess I’m just a stupid bleeding heart.” He yawned.

"Mmmm... yeah...." Satsuki finally fell back into the grass with his friend, content to end the conversation right there. Ryouhei's yawn was contagious, and the fact that he'd been deprived of sleep for so long was really starting to grate on him.

"Let's... sleep here."

Completely stupid, but it was much more appealing than riding back to his house. They could do that when they undoubtedly woke up in a few hours from the discomfort of sleeping in dirt.

Ryouhei was comfortable so he didn’t see why not. “Sure, sounds good.” He curled up near Satsuki, but not enough to intrude on the other man’s bubble.

“Don’t worry I’ll wake up if anyone decides to rape us.” Ryouhei didn’t really have a working sense of danger, he just was a light sleeper.

"Sounds good."

Satsuki allowed his eyes to fall shut, feeling more than ever like a big bag of sand weighing into the ground. His entire body ached from the fall and his head was pounding.

Definitely time for a little nap.

"Good night."

It took no time at all for him to fall asleep, shivering just slightly in the cold of the night.
