Thursday Afternoon: Yevgeny was gone.

There was no trace of him anywhere, aside from the bathroom being a bit messy, things having been tossed around. What had happened...? It wasn't like Volgin to just up and leave, unless the matter was very urgent but what could be so important that he'd leave without letting Ivan know? But what could be so important...

Too blinded by his emotions to think straight, Raikov ran through the entire campus, looking for his lover. What if... What if he had been taken away again? Was Vanya destined to be alone once more? He should have known it was too good to be true. He shouldn't have treated his remaining time with Yevgeny so casually...

Hours after searching, his legs ached and his throat was sore from yelling out the lost man's name. He'd simply try again tomorrow. Surely he'd turn up eventually... right? But much to Raikov's dismay, Volgin was still gone on Friday. He had searched the city this time, asking people if they had seen the man but the answer was obvious. The white skinned Russian returned to his empty dorm and slumped down on to the couch. ... The couch that still smelled of Yevgeny. He buried his face in to the pillows and eventually dozed off, but was awaken a few hours later by a haunting dream and tears dripping down his cheeks.

That terrible day 6 years ago...

It was still fresh in his mind, the smell of the rain and burnt flesh. The sight of Yevgeny's lifeless body in his arms as they sit atop the Shagohod. The feeling of despair.

Raikov quickly rubbed his eyes, choking back another sob.

You've gone it alone once before... You can do it again, right? You're in a safe place with people who actually care about you..

But somehow that thought wasn't very comforting. He'd gotten too damn spoiled and no longer the GRU soldier he once was. How was he going to settle back into his Volgin-less routine?

And then the added factor of EVA arriving. Did her appearance have something to do with Volgin vanishing...? What if she killed him? No way, that couldn't happen... Not by herself, at least... But nonetheless, Raikov was not happy to see her. Perhaps he'd have to catch her when she was alone and question the traitorous bitch.

... The next few days were going to be Hell.
