Season Two Theme Discussion: Friendship

Sep 25, 2013 10:00

One of the themes that we've seen affect the characters of Major Crimes this season is friendship. Where there once was adversary in the Major Crimes department, there is now a great deal of respect and in some cases, friendships and alliances blooming within the team.

And in some cases, like with Flynn and Provenza, a years-old friendship continues to be an important focus in the characters' lives.

Rusty and Buzz are on much better terms this season; Buzz has taken on the role of mentor and tutor for Rusty and is helping him excel in his academic career. Have you enjoyed the shift in their relationship? Do you see them becoming even closer once season two returns in November?

Rusty also introduces Kris, a friend from school, to the Major Crimes team. What do you make of their friendship? Of Kris' desire to be more than friends with Rusty and Rusty's struggle to remain strictly friends? Where do you see this storyline going? Where would you like it to go?

Sharon also seems to have been accepted as "one of the boys" by the original members of the team. Her relationship with Provenza has improved the most drastically (from season one to now) with Provenza stepping up as a positive authority figure in Rusty's life. Have you enjoyed seeing Sharon become more widely accepted by the gang, in particular, Provenza?

How about the rest of the team? Morales, Sykes, Tao (to name a few)? Have you enjoyed watching alliances/friendships grow between the characters? Are you excited for Rusty that he's finally starting to enjoy having friends and a social life? Have the growing friendships and alliances between the characters endeared them more to you as a viewer? Why/why not?
