There was a... flood, and I and several others reverted to different points in our lives.

What I mean is there are already a bunch of other tossers on board this Barge who make it a point to natter on about how much better they are than humans, how weak and stupid and horrible humans are, and never showing any proof as to how they're better than us.

Because this is an cross-dimensional, time traveling boat piloted by an "Admiral" who seems to have magical powers or something.
