We are a country of laws, yet we're the only country expected not to enforce them out of "compassion". Let me tell you something: in world politics, compassion gets you walked on. And if you want to live somewhere you live under the laws of the country you live in. Period. Do what you're supposed to do and that's when the rights come, not before and not because you whine about it. I am compassionate, and sometimes compassion is telling someone when what they're doing is not right. Taking the hospitality of ANY country and ignoring their laws is underhanded and criminal. I say we declare a period of amnesty so that working, productive illegals can become a citizen and pay taxes like everyone else legally has to and have their rights protected under the law. And then I say, if you didn't register then peace out.
And I've been called racist over this issue. And I'm not. This has nothing to do with elitism or color, it has to do with right and wrong. To sneak into a country that clearly is taking advantage of you from the minute you get here and then get pissed off because the trap you walked into has actually snapped is ridiculous. The reason why the immigration laws aren't being enforced is because illegals will work for less money and, if getting paid less, can't complain to the government. As if they didn't know this would happen? Well, buddies, don't complain to me. You want the advantages that citizens have? You need to do what is LEGALLY REQUIRED. That is, ahem, MANDATED BY LAW to get those benefits. You take the steps to do what's right and we'll protect you. And maybe the requirements to become a citizen are too hard or expensive or whatever. I understand that, and there needs to be a change. The government needs to decide what it wants: cheap labor or tax dollars with an economic boost to boot. And what about compassion? These people do want to make a better life for themselves and that should be aided. So an amnesty then, that way it can become apparent who really wants to improve their lives and who wants to stomp all over "compassion".
As you can tell, I am IRATE about this. The bottom line is: no one else had to put up with this shit, but because we're the "country of freedom" we should take it and shut up. It's not a country of freedom. Industry is sheparding these people away from opportunities and into being continually exploited and it must stop.
