attimes_bracing and I went for a walk in the
Lickey Hills Country Park this morning. It's not somewhere we've been before; smaller than Sutton Park (on the other side of Birmingham) but a lot hillier and higher up, with wonderful views.
In the course of our walk we came across this:
(It's not bow-legged; that's because I took one of the pictures close-up in my phone's panorama mode.)
What was it? In Bavaria we'd seen hunting hides, but you'd have to be about two foot tall to fit in this one, and there was no ladder. My home town has a
sculpture of a Martian Fighting Machine, but it wasn't one of those. Peering up, we could see that it had a glass bottom and, although covered in green leaf mould, a glass front. Ah, was it some kind of periscope?
Sure enough, it turns out to be
an art installation from 2006, desperately in need of a good clean.
Mind you, I'm glad we found it during the day, since I learned from playing
Slender: The Eight Pages that no good comes from poking around mysterious structures in the woods at night...
