So, today. Today and I had a falling out and an epic swordfight, and to this moment I'm not sure if I won or lost. BUT, it was a good battle.
I had a huge load of errands I was going to run, chores to do, and such. I actually got up around 9am to do them, but as usual got distracted by my computer. (It involved microphones, ok?) Then I realized that in order to send the package I was going to send, I need to write a letter and do some actual packing like taping the box shut, printing the address, etc. I also got clarification that Mel was going to be able to hang out today after all, so after many mishaps (And an interesting breakfast of microwaved oatmeal with syrup), I was off!
And then at the post office I found out something rather shocking, and didn't mail the package right then after all. I had a few items I needed to pick up, and I opted for Walmart instead of Target despite the fact that Target was closer.
So, before Walmart, I went to the mall. Where I stayed in a Hot Topic for an hour, browsing their clearance section. I was tempted by the various corset looking tops which were half off, but in the end put those back, as well as a wristband, in favor of a hoodie. It is a black hoodie, arguably warmer than my jean jacket, and it has black (fake?) leather straps here and there, some with metal studs on them. There were only M and XXL, and I had to pick the XXL because there's no way a M-size would fit over whatever I'd wear underneath. My reward for my good weight-behavior in hand, I head for Walmart.
Guess what? Walmart had NONE of the things I needed. At this point my morning has been a string of inconvenient coincidences with only the jacket as a bright spot, so I frowned and got an ice cream cone to compensate. Then I went to Costco and got 9lbs of oatmeal and some bananas before heading back to pick up Mel.
I proceed to drive past her apartment, past the major street that she was on, and was almost home before I realized that. Doh, me.
I got Mel, we went to Target, Staples ( I have the erasers again! I can draw!), and then later sushi (because raw fish solves all woes, but alas, does not satisfy the craving for MEAT). I joked that it was our Valentine's Day dinner (lunch) and got the tempura ice cream to celebrate. It was yummy.^_^
Then we came home and proceeded to hang out on the computer, separately. :P Well, I did laundry, Mel updated her computer and did taxes, and then..........I decided to fiddle around with the USPS site options to see if I can get that package shipped. After many trials and tribulations, I got my shipping label printed out, my credit card charged, and I'm scheduling a pick-up.
The deadline for the pick-up request was 2pm. It was almost 4 on my end. I read the fine print that says "Package must be mailed the same day as the postmark", which is today. It was 4pm and who knows when the post office closes???? CUE PANIC and I ran to the post office, leaving poor Mel stranded (and still doing taxes, I think). Thankfully at the post office all I had to do was drop it off with a live person (as opposed to a dead one) and that was that. I got Mel back more or less in time.
And my adventures are over. I am contemplating AX again but........wow, so expensive. And they moved it, it's in the LA Convention center this year. That makes me a little sad because I'd gotten so used to it being in Anaheim. Also, I told
subsiding_leaf of my cosplay aspirations, I am sad and pathetic and still thinking about it, even though it is SO not a good idea for Los Angeles, California, in July. (Unless this year is the same as the last and we didn't get summer until like, October).
