Characters: Sherlock Holmes and John Watson (no implied relationship but works either ways)
Warnings: not-quite spoiler for 2.2, not brit-picked and not beta’d
Rating: G/K
Disclaimer: Sherlock and John, their recent incarnation and the fact that Sherlock is sitting behind the steering wheel are not mine and I don't make any money out of this.
Comment: My first 221b, inspired by the question John is asking Sherlock below. And my idea of the answer. Also, the idea that Sherlock crashed Mycroft’s car(s) isn’t mine but I can’t remember the name of the story where I first read it, sorry!
(And the title is kinda lame. sry. My muse left me once the last sentence was written)
Sherlock, driving
„You… know how to drive?“
„Why, yes. It is hard to get a cab around here. And I assumed you would appreciate the effort to save money.”
A casual glance in John’s direction. Confusion, giving way to bewilderment, no, bewildered… affection.
“I certainly do. It’s good to know that at least some common sense seems to have found its way into that huge brain of yours. Make sure to not delete it accidentally.”
“I don’t do ‘accidental’.”
“Right. So when you flooded the kitchen? That… small-ish explosion, least by your standards. No accident?”
A snort. “A slight miscalculation. Tiny.”
“'Course.” A grin. “So, the driving. You did take proper lessons. Right?”
“Define proper.”
“Proper, in the sense of having had a driving instructor and taken an exam. Like everyone else does.”
“Dull.”
“…. I was afraid you were going to say that. But you do have a licence?”
“Most certainly. He insisted on following the bureaucratic protocol. Tedious.”
“He being…. Mycroft?”
A silent glare.
“But, wait. Does this mean he actually was the one who taught you to drive?”
“He wasn’t very fond of my habit of taking his car for a drive. And the tendency that I brought them back in pieces.”
“That I can imagine. Though it must have been quite a challenge, teaching you.”
A smirk. ‘You bet.”
