CHARACTER
» Name: Shinki
» Fandom: Touhou Project

» Gender: Female mentally and physically
» Age: Unknown/Possibly Infinite. She appears to be an adult woman, however.
» Orientation: Touhou does not give any canon indication of its characters having sexuality. Subjects of relationships and sexuality never come up. Their orientations are therefore left entirely open to interpretation.
» Personality: Shinki is a Goddess of Creation. It's important to understand what this means as we go into varrying aspects of her personality. It is much of what she is and how she relates to her subjects, as well as people outside of Makai. And considering she'll be doing a lot of the former in Amat, I'll be focusing on that. It is not entirely unlike Atia herself and her interaction with 'mortals', just sans the power that comes with that.
Arrogance is not the correct word when describing Shinki's confidence. Arrogance is often something that comes from undeserved self-praise, forming that attitude and the smug nature of it all. Shinki, while she may come off this way to some, does not have that. She created an entire realm, after all, and all those who inhabit it. She has a right to speak from a position above others. It's polite condecension, but still very much condecension. She will even do this to Atia, whom she will likely think of as a babby!goddess in need of motherly guidance. She doesn't INTEND to infuriate people with this attitude. It just happens. After all, mortals just don't know how to deal with gods that are not their makers. Hell, one could easily say they have the same attitude towards 'gods' that ARE their makers, if you've seen how some people regard their own parents. So it's less arrogance and more "mother knows best". She just happens to be mother to a lot. A whoooole lot.
That motherly nature comes out in a sort of maternal kindness. Comparisons between her and, say, the Holy Mother Virgin Mary, are not without merit. She looks on her objects as children, and treats them as such. This attitude can, and does, extend towards others as well. And she is pretty liberal with it, compared to other 'mother' characters in the same canon who need some level of affection towards another first. Shinki, being a Goddess and above the normalities of mortal interaction, can at times overwhelm normal people with her attitude. It's just... a bit larger than life. She's the type to bake you cookies every time you come to her house. And wait for you to eat them all, while refilling your milk glass. That is the kind of 'mother' Shinki can be. This puts her at quite a contrast to certain other 'mothers' in Touhou canon.
Alice Margatroid, in particular, is doted on perhaps more than any of her subjects. This is, partially, because Alice is not among her creations. Alice was born a human, after all, and by some strange twist of fate wound up in Makai, at Pandæmonium, and in Shinki's care. Because of this, perhaps, Shinki developed a more... real connection with Alice, similar to what a mortal would have with their own child. Which may explain how their relationship came to be so different from Shinki's others. Shinki raised the human child up, teaching her the ways of magic, until the incident in Mystic Square, and the two parted ways. On what terms is sincerely unknown, but I have had extensive conversations with Alice's player about this, and we've got something figured out, ha ha.
Finally, there is the wrathful side of Shinki that is shown, pretty specifically, to Yuuka Kazami. The other characters get some of it, sure, but Yuuka gets particular venom from her. Yuuka's willful genocide of her people and destruction of her kingdom brought out tremendous anger. It is a side of Shinki we have not seen before or sense, and it is clear that she has strong morals regarding the kind of behavior Yuuka, a killer through and through, exhibits towards other living creatures. Shinki seems to believe in the sanctity of life, and as a creator, she will cherish and protect it with everything she has should she feel it threatened.
» Appearance: Shinki is an older woman with white hair and a normal build. She keeps her hair in a somewhat childish hairstyle for... whatever reason. It's something she's poked at for in fandom a lot. She is also portrayed having three pairs of bat-like wings, but these are almost plasma-like in structure and as such I'm going to consider them a power and not a real physical trait, much like Mima's wings which are... almost exactly the same.
