Okay, so last summer, I asked if I should do a
30 day Lost meme and since no-one dared tried to stop me, I started on
July 1 and continued on
July 3... and then kinda stopped. *ahem*
But surely 30 days meme doesn't mean it has to be done in 30 subsequent days, does it? *innocent* Just any 30 days would surely suffice, right? ;)
Okay, so here's Day 3: Who is your favorite female character?
Easy one but to be fair, I did some real thinking.
Kate annoyed me most of the time and I couldn't follow most of her decisions.
Claire... at first she reminded me too much of Emily's Roswell character and towards the end, she just got weird.
Loved the whole Rose/Bernard story but I just can't split them up.
There were some female characters I'd rather forget, so let's not talk about them.
Juliet was awesome for the most part... BUT.... my favorite female character is Shannon.
Not only because of the whole Shoone thing and all... nope it was pretty much "love at first sight" - yes same as with Boone but for different reasons.
When we first met her, she was all in "princess" mode and sunbathing with all the bodies and debris around her. She just made me laugh because the situation was so absurd. And then I thought: OMG I bet she's gonna be like Cordy on Buffy/Angel. She's gonna be the arrogant, shallow b**** and in the end I'm gonna love her when she redeems herself... so I might as well like her from the beginning.
And I did. She was pretty much the only character that I didn't hate with a vengeance at the end of season 1. Her crying over Boone's body pretty much kills me every time I see it. As most of us were, I guess, I was spoiled about her death way before it happened, so it wasn't much of a shocker. It also showed me that I would (could) shrug off any other "tragic" character death TPTB would throw us in the coming seasons because nothing would hurt me as much as Boone's death.
I really wanted to know so much more about Shannon (and Boone) and their story... so much was hinted at... but that just leaves us and our fantasy to fill in the blanks. And that is one thing I really love about Lost (and a couple of other shows): Not everything is explained to the notch, it's not like you have to see everything that happens and have it explained in words and pictures. No, they explain and show some and leave enough room for everyone's own interpretation.
