So the next Shakespeare production on the Schoolcraft stage shall be . . . . .(drum roll) . . . .
KING LEAR!
O.k, so it's no big surprise to many people, . . .in fact, if you ask Jason, he guessed it before Hartman
even KNEW who Shakespeare WAS. Now I have to actually sit down and read my copy of it. I think Hartman
said he plans to send out e-mails to people this summer to see who would be available to audition next
January for it. He's made do with smaller casts for some of the past Shakespeare shows, but he believes
a large cast for this one is necessary.
Now, my own scattered thoughts about "Deadly Nightcap":
* I'm happy that the crowds took to it so well. I didn't even mind the chatter during the show
because it told me that the audience was engaged and interested.
* I can't have another role anytime soon that has me doing nothing for an hour or more.
I almost lost my mind backstage. Then again, if I could find some paying gig, I'd doing almost nothing
and never complain.
* Fight scenes are not fun after a while when a) people keep getting hurt, b) your knees keep getting punished),
and c), you're reminded every night just how out of shape you are.
* I am not putting a mustache on my face for a long, long time. Even if it costs me a role here and there.
* "You need to shut the fuck up. You're driving me nuts!" = Priceless!!!
* Four large make-up mirrors, no matter how nice they are, are pointless if there's more than four people in a show.
* Lucy was the mastermind behind my character's death, and no one can convince me otherwise.
Wrestlemania was sweet. Some matches could have been much better, but it's wrestling, so it was terrific.
I'm collecting hugs for my birthday (which is tomorrrow . . !), so if you see me within the next couple days, get ready to
give 'em up! That's an order!
Be good to each other,
-Brian
P.S: My icon is from the long lost film classic, "King Lear On 34th Street", in case you were curious.
