The group's findings in the bathroom had left Mello incredibly curious.
He was positive that the notes hadn't been there before. He certainly hadn't seen them, and it seemed impossible that nobody else had either. Especially that one in the bathtub.
Someone had to have put them there, though, and he had a strong inclination to try and figure out who it was. He supposed it could have been one of his fellow prisoners, though he was by no means certain of that. It might have been the most obvious thing to expect, but this place didn't seem to be one to go along with expectations.
He wondered whether the answer mattered.
Perhaps the notes were entirely meaningless, but as it stood-- since he couldn't remember what had happened with the blank book in the library, and couldn't yet return to figure it out-- they were the closest thing to resembling a clue that he'd found yet.
If there had been two in the bathroom, it was at least possible that there were more around the house. The notes had been numbered-- 1 and 5-- and if the numbers meant anything, there was a halfway decent chance that there were. Mello carefully surveyed the edges of the hallway as he made his way down to the far end. Nothing was unusual, or new, or out of place. Not that there was very much to look at in the hallway, save for a table and a few wall decorations. He didn't bother to speak to the girl as he searched. If it hadn't been for the strange discovery they had made in the bathroom, he would have used this time to rest; but this was business, now, and he didn't have time to be idle, even if he had been feeling decidedly off. With the state his mind was in, he needed all of his focus on this, and couldn't afford to spend any of that on trivial conversation. It would be far too distracting.
