In the matter of a few, short moments, Ichigo was suddenly aware of the presence of people he was sure weren't there before. Though as quickly as their strange presence had appeared, it vanished - leaving a strange brush of familiarity in the back of his mind that caused his lips to curl in disapproval and his shoulders to bunch.
He knew this feeling. It was distant now and had been annoying on occasion. But he knew it, all the same. The presence he was aware of - it or they weren't human. They were ghosts, something he'd thought he'd never be able to see or feel again.
"This place," Ichigo murmured knowingly with the thought, the mahogany eyes lifting to study the hall he was moving down. His trek forward was slow and careful, his mind on edge - feeling for even the smallest flicker of something familiar almost eagerly. That flicker caught him a few moments later and he paused, head snapping towards the door of one of the rooms to stare at it intently for a moment. He spared himself a brief thought that maybe, he shouldn't chase down this weird feeling, but his legs weren't listening.
One hand reached out, pushing the door open and he stepped in. His eyes made a quick sweep of the room before pausing, focusing on the girl in time to catch sight of the flame vanishing. He straightened at that, shifting back as if to leave the room but the will to do so left him entirely as the flame sprang to life again. For a few long seconds, his gaze was fixated on the candle and its strange flame before finally, they shifted towards the girl once more.
