I'm back at school! Schoolwork is eating me alive, which is probably why I haven't posted anything until now. I'm taking these classes:
Intro to Judaism
Utopias & Distopias in Lit
Gender in a Cross-Cultural Perspective
Qualitative Research Methods
Racism & Privilege in American Society
The Racism class is actually a two-credit "independent study" course that a senior doing her thesis is facilitating. We're designing our own syllabus and will have to do quite a bit of research on our own. But it looks to be really fascinating and hopefully will cut to some deep issues.
This week, even though it's the first week back, I spent the majority of every afternoon and evening sequestered in the Unisex office studying. My cell phone doesn't get reception in there, and if I don't bring my laptop I don't have the distraction of wireless internet.
My new roommate is a sweetie. Her name is Yukiko, and she's from Japan. But! She actually voluntarily speaks! ENGLISH, even! She often has a passel of giggling Japanese girls hanging out all over the floor, which I don't much mind because I'm spending so much time out of my room doing homework.
This weekend, Gabe cut my hair. It looks less mullet-y. We played Scrabble and listened to They Might Be Giant's "Here Come The ABCs" album, which features Sesame Street-esque songs with a kick. On Saturday we watched three chick flicks in a row. It was pretty great.
