It has occurred to me that I haven't really posted on here. More shocking than that, I haven't posted about Pye ( Read more... )

LOL...that's a very funny description you gave of your cat. Why did you name him "Pye"?

Pye has amazing green eyes. Very unusual. Mysterious. I must say he does look rather ornery. He has both a cute and sweet and a rather sinister look about him. I can easily imagine him "attacking the other animals in the house, or for that matter, anything that moves."

How long have you had Pye? Where did you get him?

He was named that at the shelter because he's all black. In the '60's TV thingy about a witch called "Bell, Book and Candle", her black cat was called Pyewackett. Pyewackett was also a name for a witch's familiar or imp. And my Pye is definitely impish.

He has very lovely eyes, yes. And he is rather grumpy. He especially doesn't like men.

I've had him for about a year and a half, ever since spring of my junior year when my beloved older cat Colette died. He came from our local Humane Society, where he lived with his three brothers. The other three were very outgoing, but Pye was painfully shy.

"Pyewackett was also a name for a witch's familiar or imp." Sorry, I don't follow this. What do you mean "for a witch's familiar or imp."?

Why is he grumpy? Have you spoiled him? I think he may be protecting you from men he thinks are not really good for you. is this possible? Cats can be very intuitive. Maybe he senses the guys that come over to your house have only one thing on their minds and he wants them to get the hell out!

Did you read in the newspaper the story about the cat who could predict when someone was going to die? The story was just in the news about a week ago.

How old was Colette when she died? Colette is a pretty name. How did you come up with that name?

You know how witches in legends have familiars? Creatures that have magical properties. Imps are just creatures that hang around witches and are very mischievious.

He's just not especially friendly. And he is a bit spoiled. I think if he wanted to protect me he'd be a bit violent about it. He just hides. And the way we know he hates men is that he thrashes especially hard to get away when I try to introduce him to male guests, not all of who are romantic interests. Although sometimes I think he is taking care of me a bit; whenever he's sleeping on my bed and he hears the door or the phone, he gets up, runs to the edge of my bed, and growls very loudly.

I did. Be nice to be forewarned, huh?

She was only 10 :( My mom likes the author Colette, and it's a very pretty French sort of name. Colette was very elegant and classy, so we figured it fit.

I'm not familiar with any of this. Again, mais teaches me stuff. Never heard of imps and didn't know that witches had such creatures hanging around them. how do you know all this stuff?

he does have a rather nasty glare in his eye. i thought maybe he was having a bad day...but you say it is a part of his temperment. I always tend to favor the cuddly variety...but I guess that we all have thorns hidden beneath our roses, if you want to get technical about it. Maybe he just senses that guys are only good for one thing.

Yeah, it is an amazing trait. i wonder if other animals possess this kind of capacity.

Colette sounds as if it is drawn from French literature. But you say it is a French author's name. I'm not familiar with that author. It reminds me of the name "Cosette" from the novel by Victor Hugo, "Les Miserables."

Cuz I learned it. I guess they don't teach you about witches in Florida.

Lol, sure :) He's very very cuddly with me, just not with anyone else. He's picky.

Oh sure! Pye growls very loudly if he hears the phone, and Colette always hid her head at the mention of George Bush :)

Colette was quite famous, and very good.

Nah, we know nothing here in Florida. Well, I can tell the difference between naval oranges and sunkiss. Other than that, it's all about getting the rays and hitting the beach....and hiding the tan lines.

I can tell he is picky. You've taught him to hate all humans except for one.

Cool! That's interesting...Colette could have saved this country much grief. Where was she 6 years ago?

I've never heard of her. There I go again...I am showing my stripes (or lack of stripes). Who is she? What did she write?

Yeah, I can't do that :)

I haven't! I've tried to get him social! He's just shy. He was feral, so he has some issues around that.

She was hiding in our bathroom, most likely.

She was french. She wrote books about naughty french girls.

See? And we Florideans know everything about the beach, too.

I know I should know what "feral" means but....

LOL...too funny. Does she have vanity issues? Or was she merely using the potty?

Hmmm, I suspect the French are more open minded than we are here in this country.

I've hardly been to a decent beach. Kind of sad. But the beachy thing is more southern california.

Semi-wild.

She was just super shy. She was another feral.

In some ways, yes.

you'd love the beach. Consider exploring one at some point. There's an awful lot of eye candy on the beach. You may never return to dry land.

Ahhhh

Perhaps, she is more distrusting than the run of the mill kitty, you know, always assuming the other cat or person (as the case may be) is harboring ill intent.

Viva La France!

Oh, I agree. That's why I'm going to university in a seaside town.

Most feral cats are. But Colette settled down and became a very nice cat. We're hoping Pye will do the same.

I think they're rather open in Serbia too, judging by my man's sweet treatment of me.

Mais, you're going to go bonkers there. I can see you now....you'll probably live on the beach. What a great way to take a break from school!

I know nothing about cats, especially feral ones. But I have faith in you...you'll teach her manners and proper English! LOL.

From those pics you sent, I would say YES, they are. He has a trinkle in his eye that maybe you didn't catch. Trust me, that boy will be putty in your hands.

Hopefully I'll study too. . .

Pye is a he. And I higly doubt he'll learn english, though I suppose he just might learn cattish.

He is. He also gave me more orgasms than I can count last night.

I hope so, too...LOL

Sorry, that was a typo...I know Pye is a boy.

Are you serious??? Come on, I'm dying to know what happened last night. I knew it was only a matter of time for you and him. Was last night the first time together? Did you really orgasm?

He's a very silly boy too. He refuses to meet my guy.

Ummm. . . yeeees. To all questions. I'm not allowed to say too much because I'm not sure what he'd think of that, but it was pretty damned great!
