Almanac, Weather, Outdoor Cats

According to the Almanac, today is the best day to:

Harvest below-ground crops.
Have dental care.
Pick fruit.
Plant below-ground crops.

According to this machine, the outdoor temperature is 31°F.  According to weather-dot-com, the outdoor temperature is 33°F.  Either way, it's colder than I'd expected.
This has increased my concern for the outdoor cats, our nightly visitor cats.
Our calico friend is suddenly terrified to see our back door open even though she's hungry and we're putting food out for her and other kitties; himself tells me other people are acting badly towards her (no, it's not himself doing bad things; I don't believe he has an angry, or mean, cell in his body when it comes to animals.)
And speaking of animals, it could be other critters---dogs, raccoons, foxes, and even other cats---bothering our feline friends at the food dishes they find outside.

Well, we had cut back the amount of food we were putting out, thinking our nightly guests would just find other sources, and they may have done, but they're hungry and at least one is terrified and very skittish---and after we worked so long and so patiently to teach her she wouldn't be harmed at this house!

Himself has to wake up within an hour, I believe, so we'll have to have a conversation about this situation.
