Being a homeowner is bad for my nerves....

So I was over at my parents' house last night just to visit, and by the time I left, the lightning outside was fantastic. No rain, nice and windy, and tons of lightning. Gary had called before I left and sounded hungry, so the plan was to pick up some food for him, and then go home and stand in the garage and watch the lightning.

So I pulled in to the drivethru at the McDonald's a couple mils from my house, and right as I get up to the speaker to order, rain just starts POURing down. As I get up to the window and pass the poor kid my cash card, Gary calls me on my cell phone, asks where I am, and tells me to get inside, because apparently there is a TORNADO. Damnit. So I didn't wait for my food, I just pulled around the building and went inside.

I ended up sitting there for probably 45 minutes, shaking the whole time, and alternating phone calls between my mom and my husband.

I don't like this whole trend of serious fall weather now since I bought a house. It kinda sucks. I already had to replace the roof and siding because of the storm LAST fall, I'd rather not have to do it again!

Anyhow, things around my neighborhood look okay, I've got a lily or two that's kinda tipped over, and the leaves are a little shredded, but other than that, things look fine. On the other hand, I'd like to get to Home Depot or Lowe's today and pick up some flashlights and a storm radio to keep under the stairs.

(The cats were very confused last night. Usually they try to get into the closet under the stairs and we won't let them. Last night, Gary shut them in there and then wouldn't let them out! Poor things, LOL.)

In other news, today is my Dad's birthday, so we're going out to eat for lunch to celebrate. He looks better today than he did 10 years ago! It's kind of amazing. I keep going through pictures and being just amazed. It's very cool.

There. That's my update. Enjoy.
