But instead, in order to divert some negative feelings (and satisfy a craving), I made chocolate covered strawberries.
These are some good chocolate covered strawberries. They weren't pretty - my dipping technique isn't quite up to par yet, but the chocolate was melted to perfection, because it melts into nothing but chocolate bliss when it touches the tongue.
This after I think I came up with the perfect solution for iced coffee. Iced coffee is essential in this weather, as hot coffee raises my body temperature to the point where it feels like I'm having a hot flash. This is not conducsive to getting ready for work in the morning. And see, I have issues with making iced coffee at home, or even getting it from Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks. There are always a couple of issues: 1. Depending on how it's made, the ice dilutes it to a point where it just isn't good any more. 2. The sweetener never dissolves properly. 3. Freshed brewed iced coffee never really gets cold enough - there is never enough time before the ice melts and it gets watered down.
Now, there are several solutions to this, but I came up with a method that works for me. First I brewed the equivalent of 12 cups of coffee with my little Mr. Coffee (about 3 pots). After each pot was done brewing it - I sweetened it to taste, making sure it all dissolved before it cooled. Then I put it all in a rinsed out milk container. And stuck it in the fridge. Now when I want chilled coffee, I pull out a chilled mug from the freezer, fill it with cold coffee, and add my creamer. It's simple, but the coffee is PERFECT. So perfect that I had a lot more coffee than usual yesterday. I'm definitely doing that again.
And on top of the food triumphs this weekend, much fun was had in the evenings watching movies and chatting over Skype with sfeley. I'd never watched movies that way before, but it's something I definitely want to do again. We watched Revolutionary Girl Utena: The Movie one night, and The Neverending Story 1 and 2 the next. Look for my thoughts on the latter in the podcast this week, and as for the former - the only way to watch that is with good booze and good company, and much mocking.
And now, I'm tossing the kid into bed, and heading for my own - I think I got a teeny bit more sun today than I should of, so it will be an early night. I'll edit tomorrow.
