Oh the Irony…

It is just so ironic, that the week I manage to get the podcast out about my goals for the year, that I’ve completely fall off the wagon.  So to be honest - here’s how my goals stand:

Weigh less - I’m off my eating plan and haven’t weighed myself in a week.  I’ve also been eating like crap due to the storm.
Knit More - I’ve actually burned through some yarn.  I’m another ball in on my cardigan, and I finished up my hats for the Boom Effect.  And I started a pair of socks.
Stuff in the Basement - last week - instead of exercising like I had intended, I instead emptied five boxes, and filled three trash bags, and bag for donation.  And made sure that stuff was gone.
The Project - I have not been able to bring my self to cook this week.  Time is running out, since I’m going to be going to Farpoint this weekend, and will be in a hotel, instead of in my kitchen.  I’ve got three of the dishes planned out - so since tomorrow is supposed to be a snow day - maybe I can get at least three done.  As for the veggie dish - I may need to catch up with that in a later week.  I’m not sure what I’ll do.

So - those are my goals.  Typing them out like that - keeping myself honest - may actually help me.  The food thing - mainly it’s been because of the snow - and because I’ve wanted to make sure I eat the project food - which does not fit into the low carb diet.  And because, I haven’t been able to get to Trader Joe’s to get my favored vegetables.  And because I haven’t wanted to.  But I need to get back to that - and go phase one for a week.  I’m not feeling as well as I had been, and I know it’s because of my diet.  So I may need to take a break from the Project - because really - what is more important - me getting to a healthier weight - or cooking meals the Alton Brown way?

The knitting has been rewarding.  I hadn’t really done that much of it lately, but I feel a resurgence coming on.  Which is good - because I like that my knitting usually makes me think - especially when I’m coming up with my own designs.  Take these socks I’ve started.  I’ve started this pair of socks three times now - because I want the toe to be perfect.  And because I hadn’t settled on a pattern.  What I’m going to do is mirror the pattern from the edge of my cardigan, and do some modifications, so that the result can be how I like it.  And I think third time is the charm.  It’s just going to be about the gauge now.

One thing I like about toe-up socks is that you can fudge your gauge.  Do the toe, and what the gauge is for that will determine how wide your sock will be.  In this case the pattern a 10 stitch one.  I had originally did the design for 6o stitches, but this may end up being 70, depending on gauge.    I’m currently at 44 stitches  - so I’ve still a ways to go before I make the final descision.  One thing I do need to do is write down what I do - once I’ve committed to it - so I can replicate it for the second sock.

So that’s it - the snow is falling, I’m yawning, but I’ll be back online tomorrow.
