Finally... the Taiwanese Wedding (Part 1 of 5)

Well, got back from Taiwan about a couple of weeks ago, but I went back to work immediately and the internet connection has been decidedly finicky, to the point where I want to strangle its hard wiring or whatever. Finally, the internet died then all the news about Darcy and I've been distracted. So, now at last, I'm here to talk about the wedding.

Let us first address the As some of you might have known, mainly those who tried calling me at home to encounter the occasional "lost in translation moment, that my parents home has been a place of international culture exchange for the past four years. We had two Taiwanese girls, one lady from Argentina, and I think one or two trial runs that didn't last long. Basically, only the one Taiwanese, FuYung, and Maria became an extended part of the family. So when FuYung e-mailed us that her sister, Helen is her English name, was getting married, we were excited for her. We had met Helen when she and her mother came to visit us with FuYung for the Christmas holidays and we hit it off, well as much as people who don't speak the same language can.

Anyway, as a counter offer for our hospitality, they invited us to come and visit. It seemed like the perfect opportunity for a brief stay for the New Year holiday when I first got the job with Nova. Then when the wedding was announced, I asked if it was OK if I made the visit a little sooner.

The trickiest part was finding a plane, especially when you can't read the Japanese travel websites, and getting the days off. My vacations days, as it turned out, don't kick in until July 18th, so I was doing shift swaps all month to get 5 days of freedom.

On a side note, I've been drawing more than ever. And I've been itching to get get a hold of my old camera. Unfortunately I don't have a dark room.
