My visa is expiring soon which means I gotta get a move on with my residency application. I think I'm about 75% done with it. I'm done with my medical stuff. I've filled out my application. My mom is renewing my NBI clearance as I type so I just have to gather up evidence of Marc and my relationship. That shouldn't be too hard.

I realized I haven't blogged about our trip to Wellington. Most of you have probably seen the Welly photos on Facebook anyway but here are a few highlights of that trip.

We were blessed with warm and not-so-windy weather that Wellington is usually known for. Our hotel left much to be desired so the less said about it the better.

I didn't do much research on Wellington aside from good places to eat (courtesy of Dineout.co.nz). We had awesome curly fries at Sweet Mother's Kitchen. Everything else was just alright though. But the curly fries. So salty! So plentiful!
The photo below was Marc's reaction to our 24-hour separation (I flew in a day later).

The most obvious thing to do in Wellington is to museum hop. Here we have a real life hobbit's foot (Pippin's) that we found at the Museum of City and Sea. Of course we also went to the famous Te Papa museum (both were free BTW). It's HUGE. We didn't spend too much time there though since our tummies were rumbling.

The photo below was taken at a very cool bar called the Library. As I'm sure you can guess what attracted it to us. The place was decorated like a library (durr) slash grandma's house in the 60s. Dark-paneled wood plus lots of books on shelves that you can peruse if your date turns out to be a dud. We discovered the bar when we ate at the adjacent Chow Tory. Good fusion Asian food.

The best part of the trip however came by wonderful serendipity. We were walking down the street when I noticed a hand-made poster on a window that had the word 'Manila' on it. It turned out to be for a one-man show that evening called Sun Drugs. It was free (again, we are cheapskates) and it seemed like fun. And indeed it was. blind, the artist/actor, was great. Turns out he spent some time in the Philippines with Tanghalan Pilipino.

We're going back to Wellington in a week or so for my birthday. So excited!
