I think in the past couple years it's become "in style" to be afraid of things with wings. Especially birds, moths, flies, butterflies, etc.
I can understand bats, they're "rats with wings" and what-not. My Mom has always been terrified of bats they get in her house all the time. Bear saves her though.
ANYWAY, I work in a pretty big industrial building with high ceilings and big windows which sometimes get left open at night. So we do get a couple moths in the building.
The girls on my team spaz the fuck out whenever a moth is around. It's like.. what? I've never heard of people spazzing about moths.
I really shouldn't say anything because I am like the poster girl for irrational fear, but it's like mass hysteria whenever a moth is around. People literally climb under their desks to get away from it. If there's one sitting there on the wall, like they do during the day, the girls climb on things in order to reach it and smash it. Then they spaz out MORE if the smashed moth comes anywhere near them when it falls off the wall.
God forbid we ever got a bird in there, the girls wouldn't enter the room! Which is kinda silly considering we live in a town over-run with pigeons.
I just saw a girl post online that her and her mother were FREAKING out cuz there's an injured pigeon on their balcony. They're calling every agency possible to come get it off their balcony. I'm like.. dude, get a pillow case and pick the damn thing up and take it somewhere Lol!
MADNESS! :)
