winter, etc

A quote from Albert Camus that I loved:

"In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer."

so yeah, dropping out of college. that was the lowest point of my life blah blah blah. but I survived, I matured and I stood back up. the ability to fall down and get back up. that's what I think makes humans so amazing. so fragile, but the survival instinct is strong.

so now I get to jump on the Obama-bandwagon. I didn't watch the inaugural speech. but I read CNN for the highlights. and Obama quoted something from Paine's essay, "The Crisis":

"Let it be told to the future world…that in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue could survive…that the city and the country, alarmed at one common danger, came forth to meet [it]."

so yeah. America sucks right now, but let's pick it back up. or something like that. bunch of smart dudes on CNN said his speech was sobering, realistic and practical. sounds good to me.
