Thanksgiving

Hmm...it seems like a few people are going home for Thanksgiving. I considered going home too but with the holiday rush about to begin over the post office, I think I'll stay behind to give an extra hand.

I don't want to go home anyway. It's the same every year.  I come home and my parents spend the entire time ignoring by working in the pharmacy all day. When they do pay any sort of attention to me, they simply start bombarding me with school-related conversations. and guilt-trips.

It's never  "were so proud of you." "are you enjoying school?" or even a simple "we missed you."  It's alway, "You better not be goofing off in school," "Why did you bother taking such trivial classes?" and "People are judging the family based on how successful you are.You better not let us down."

And to add insult to injury, they always rant about how the children of all their friends are doing better than me. How they're getting straight A's and getting awards. How they're being accepted to some fancy university and on their way to a "real" career  while I'm "goofing off by playing postman all day."

I'm already in a bad mood. Why make it worse by going home?
