Early Grave

I would like it to be clear that I am NOT a pessimist. It just so happens that reality always has a way of screwing up a good thing. This is not me just talking, it is based on actual observations. I would cite a scientific study about it if there was one. Although statistically speaking, everything is about to screw up one time or another and the theory of entropy supports this claim.

I just learned late last night that I am assigned for graveyard shift (i.e. 10pm-7am Sunday evening to Friday morning). I think I have made it succinctly clear and highly unambiguous during two of my interviews for the job that I am okay with this schedule as long as it is just for short periods of time. So, if nothing changes within a couple of months, I suppose that I will not be staying for long.

The work that I'm supposed to do was finally laid out to me. It's fairly easy but boring. I work with a team to prepare reports. However, we are subject to move between two offices: three days a week in Makati and two days in Libis.

Friday will be Ramadan or Eid'l Fitr or something. It's supposed to be a regular holiday. I don't think they will give me it. I don't think they will even pay me the holiday premium for showing up to work. It's still wait and see for that.

Early this morning, I forgot to log-out. This means that I'm well on my way to get penalized for "misconduct". A few more of my "misconducts" would be grounds for termination. I really don't care about that.

As for sleep, I barely get what I want normally and more now with this schedule. I can't sleep when the sun is out and when the sun is out it's hot and when it's hot I can't sleep. Speaking of heat, I will be facing the brunt of it because I'll be home during this time. I wanted to work so that I can escape the afternoon heat.

The good thing, if there is any, about the current situation is that I can go job interviews/testing without having to file for leaves (which I don't have until my 7th month on the job). Also with the schedule, I will not be facing traffic much. That's about it.
