Glee 2.09 "Special Education"

I was happy when Max Adler said he'll be showing up in Glee in every episode since "Never Been Kissed" because that means more on Karofsky dealing with his issues. But they didn't even touched on it at all in this episode. Looking at next week's promo, doesn't seem like it'll happen next week either. Uh. Are they just gonna drop off the bullying issue down like this? W-what about Karofsky's backstory?

Blah, whatever, guess they're really taking it very slow with Karofsky. That brief guilty look Karofsky made when Puck blamed him for Kurt leaving was cute, though. ;) I could hear all the Puck/Kurt fans squealing at Puck saying "my boy Kurt" too loooool

Besides that, poor Kurt for Dalton being boring. :/ But aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh I love Kurt and Rachel singing "Don't Cry For Me Argentina". I listened to Kurt's solo ver before the episode aired and already loved it there, but the 'duet' version a la "Wheels" and also how the video is done made the song so much more beautiful. ;_; BUT WHY IS KURT'S SOLO VERSION NOT ON ITUNES!!?? NO SERIOUSLY I DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS AND I HAVE THIS HUGE URGE TO CUT A BUTCH AT THE MOMENT AAAAAARRGGHH Finally found it, yaaaaayy. But seriously, what's up with the confusing placement, iTunes...

Besides that Rachel and Kurt need to be BFFs for realz. They really have the cutest relationship ever, and the sad thing is that we don't even know how to classify them! I mean, what are they? Friends? Enemies? Frenemies? Rivals? Either way, they are one damn of an OTP. :P

And lol at Finchel drama. Same old, same old. Eh, knowing this two, they might still make up later anyway, so I'm not gonna bawl over this. That, or this is a sign that Finn will start paying more attention towards Kurt.... 8) LOLOL I know, I'm just pushing my hopes here. Besides that, my inner fangirl enjoyed the small moments of Finntana(?) and Brittana. I... may like Santana more than I thought I do. But her solo in this episode didn't do much to me.

Hell, the whole Sectionals was very... lackluster. The only performance I enjoyed was the Warblers', wha? Season 1's Sectionals was a hell lot emotionally deeper than this, even. I think this has just proven a point: You take Finn, Rachel and Kurt away from the top and you'll notice how much of a lackluster this glee club is. I mean, it's very nice how everyone gets their own turns to shine this time, and this isn't just a repeat of what happened last year but it's still... lacking. :/ *shrug*

Editted @ Dec 7th:
A week later, I have a different view of this season's Sectionals. :T

S1 Sectionals: Rachel showcasing her epic voice and how well she pulls off emotional depth into her singing. Group number has lyrics that's somehow connected to the show's theme.

S1 Regionals: Emotional depth shown by the sexual tension chemistry between Finn and Rachel in their duet. Journey medley is also memorable due to nostalgia and showcasing the characters' 'journey' in that sense.

S2 Sectionals: For some reason, the creators decided to ditch that 'emotional depth' thing they always put in ND's performances and decided to go with something more... fanservicey? I mean, more focus on minor characters, Sam/Quinn cuteness, Brittana cuteness, that little Finntana moment, Brittany and Mike finally showcasing their awesome dance moves together... At first I wasn't attracted to "Valerie" but after a second time viewing, I have this urge to rewatch this performance a few times more because the little character interactions they put in there were so cute, namely Brittana.

So the performance wasn't attractive at first watch, but I realized the different approach they took for S2's Sectionals wasn't too bad either. It's... cute, but more fan-geared in a way, thus 'fanservicey'.

People complained about how the songs used in this episode don't have much connection to the plot but they're missing a lot of hints, actually. Blaine singing "Hey Soul Sister" actually hints how he feels about Kurt (this one was brought to my attention through this Blaine character analysis) and "Dog Days Are Over" quite fit into the Finchel deal and how the ND are still there to make them smile although they're down, thus the video of them dancing around wildly.

You just need to read more between the lines, I guess. This episode may be a bit boring, but it played around a lot with hidden meanings.
