Calligraphy
Yesterday's design class got us doing calligraphy. Some of you on twitter probably already saw the above picture. Since we had to scan in what we did, thought maybe I would show some of the ones I did. Please take note that I SUCK AT CALLIGRAPHY and I never took proper kanji-writing lessons.
Our lecturer's advice on making calligraphy for design purposes is to not bother with brush stroke orders and to make use of "dots" and "lines". And that's what I did (plus I took note of a calligraphy exhibition we saw last year).
From left to right:
雨 = ame (rain)
幸 = sachi (bliss) (wrote this because I remembered space_coyote's name and was amused that it looks like the :V emoticon she likes to use)
萌 = moe. nuff said.
金 = kane (money)
香= kaori (scent) YES I KNOW IT LOOKS LIKE 杏 (anzu; apricot) but weirdly my teacher likes it?? I don't, but it looks like a face going XO so I like it for THAT.
Yes, I deliberately chose kanjis with small amounts of brush strokes...

I should start listing down the comics I buy because I get the feeling some of my selections are obscure on LJ (Nemakon-wise, many people buy more obscure stuff than me lol)
「未来日記」８ えすのサカエ (I personally don't see why everyone needs to heat up over Yuno's real identity)
「青い花」４ 志村貴子 (a mild comic about lesbians, quite a nice read. Can't wait for the anime this summer!)
「星は歌う」５ 高屋奈月 (This stuff is Dead Emo-er than Fruits Basket but I like Takaya's emo stuff anyway)
「flat」１ 青桐ナツ (no, not a manga about flat-chests :P I totally got baited by the emohair dude on the cover)
And popular titles: DOGS vol 4, Kurenai vol 3, Reborn vol 24 (w/ 10% discount at NichiDai Ekoda campus' conbini WHOO, but I still haven't bought vol 23 whoops)
Also currently borrowing ライチ☆光クラブ from a junior. Also borrowed Bakuman vol 1 and 2, which is a very interesting read for someone who regularly draws original manga. By the way, am I the only one thinking of Shuujin x Saiko?? Or it could be the other way around.
When is Kimi to Boku vol 7 coming out?? They already have TV CMs for it but I didn't find it in bookstores. ... Never mind, it's next week.
