So I know it's been a while since I last posted. A lot has happened and I felt a bit overwhelmed at the thought of going through it all. So I just kept putting it off!
But here it goes. I am back in the United States now and frankly, thrilled to be here. Edinburgh was a nice city. But being a cash strapped student confined to 8 city blocks in an aggressively stressful degree with a snotty roommate in a tiny townhome? After 4 years, that'll make anyone want to get the h*ll out. Compare to housesitting a big suburban brick and cream with virtually no one else around, free housekeeping, a sweet cat, and 2 cars so I can *actually* go out and see the world? No comparison.
It's another chapter in my life, folks, and boy - am I glad to be closing the book on the last one! Now I'll be working on paying off student loans, feeling free to own something like houseplants again, unpacking all those boxes that haven't seen the light of day since I left college, and just in general enjoying myself.
I did take the fabled trip to Japan in late August, which is too much to go through at the moment. Suffice to say it was a good trip. Wow, we did a whole lot, and a lot were things that no tourist would ever get a chance at: backstage at the Hokkaido zoo, tracking bears in Shiretoko, a sunset off the coast after a monsoon, seeing the Godzilla rock, riding a roller coaster in Tokyo. It was good.
At the moment, I am awaiting receipt of a standard black poodle named Oh! Suzannah, courtesy of some friends in Tennessee who have asked me to take her. I'm also entering into a partnership on breeding horses, where I will free lease a mare, breed her, pay the fees and upkeep and split the profit with the owners. I'm *also* committed to helping market an Arabian stallion. That's a bit more complicated, but I'll explain later the mechanics later.
Beyond that, I am sincerely and utterly looking forward to starting live my life again. I'm thrilled to be back. Everyone else seems to be thrilled I'm back - well, except for the ones I left behind in Edinburgh.
*off to change my Halloween icons*
