I have come down from the rush of my first week of classes and past the "Oh my god, I'm at RADA!" to hit a wall of exhaustion on Monday and Tuesday to feeling more with a routine today. It's a LOT to take in. Many of the teachers have said that it can be too much to process all at once but it will sink in eventually. Even two years from now we could have a moment where something just clicks. Have made some incredible new friends and have met some very interesting people along with the typical know-it-all American drama students still in college. It's fascinating how those of us who are at transitional points in our lives have gravitated towards each other in the crowd. My body is holding up well and already feels stronger. It is more of a workout than expected since there are a number of staircases we must traverse each day. One of my fellow students and I noticed that must be why all the teachers have well developed calves.
Some of the teachers are hysterical and the way they phrase things is rather unique. The movement teacher, who looks like a gelfling from the Dark Crystal, taught us how to speak out our bums. In the class on acting verse the teacher spoke of the angry squirrel that sometimes pops up at the end of a line. My friend Helen demonstrates this below:
