[The recording clicks on, and there is the sound of heavy breathing. When Brienne speaks, her voice, low and mannish, sounds pained and hoarse.]

Where - Lady Cat... Lady Stoneheart? Where is this?

... Oathkeeper...

[Her voice hardens again]

Where is this place?

oathkeeper

Wench!

[His voice is full of laughter, but for once it isn't mocking.]

You followed me all the way to Hell!

I don't suppose you found a way to bring my hand with you, did you?

That aside, though, wench, I've never been happier at the thought of seeing you.

[Brienne's voice is full of bewilderment.]

Jaime...?

What do you mean, 'hell'?

[It does, of course, nothing to temper his joy.]

I mean, fair wench, that we've been deemed sinners by gods who definitely aren't the Seven. They might well be the old heathen gods the Starks harked on about, I wouldn't be surprised.

Regardless, you're not in Westeros, there's no way back to Westeros, but in its own way it's better than Westeros anyway.

You sound hurt, wench.

What happened?

...

Kingslayer, if this is some cruel jest...

[Her voice trails off]

I was searching for the Stark girls. I received a wound and then - then I was captive of one who thought I had dishonoured my word.

Wench, your logic, please, recall it. How could I have planned this as a jest?

What?

Stranger's prick wench, what are you on about?

I suppose you're right. Forgive me. This is all a bit much to take.

Do you know the lady who is speaking to me?

It is not something that I want to parade around publicly, but... Jaime, I fear I have broken my oath to you.

You get used to it, I assure you. There's far less litter than there was in fair Westeros, at any rate.

She's a princess or something elsewhere, and is doing healing of some kind. Apparently magic's not uncommon here. Oh, and there are lots of women carrying around weapons. Admittedly they manage to look good doing it, dear wench, but it should be a comfort. Scared the shit out of me I spent five hours hoping it meant you'd be about somewhere.

...

Brienne. Wench. Don't be ridiculous.

... I'm more than half convinced this is some nightmare or dream brought on by the hanging. But you... hoped I'd be about?

Jaime. I have lost Oathkeeper.

[A long pause.]

You're shitting me, aren't you?

[Another pause, longer still, and Jaime's voice is threaded with anger and something similar to concern.]

What, what? Hanging?

Wench! I find myself requiring quite a bit of explanation, if you'd have a care.

... No.

Kingslayer, my throat is strained and I am barely able to keep myself aware. Can explanations not wait until after I've rested?

Very well, wench. I'll wait. But they better be good.

I'm glad you're here, wench, anyway.
