Halloween & bday & things

My birthday was nice. Took the day off of work and so did Colin, so we woke up late, I played some video games, and we went and had brunch. I had pumpkin pancakes with cinnamon yogurt and a bloody mary and it was amazing. Then we went and sat in the dog park in Union Square and we saw a bunch of cute dogs, and I still miss my "stupid dog," as I called him, who was probably a Pomchi, and his tongue just stuck out of his mouth the whole time. I want a stupid dog like that, hehe.

The night before we had band practice, as we do on Mondays (Holly & the Sloths is no longer, unfortunately, so we've resurrected Colin's old band, Electric Bubblebath, with 4/6 of the original members! It's pretty much just a weird cover band though, but I think we'll be playing some Holly songs too). So once we got to Colin's apartment he told me to get him something from the studio, and he got me a new bass! Definitely was not expecting that from him, but it's a beauty.

It looks like that, but not glittery (unfortunately, hehe) and it's red. I love the star markings instead of just circles to indicate specific frets. And it sounds really amazing. I was just getting used to playing Colin's short-necked bass so now I have to stretch my hands again, but it's not as bad as I thought. I'm actually getting my callouses back from when I used to play all the time which is nice. It's nice playing with people who know what they're doing. Actually Colin, Daniel and I came up with a new song on Friday night for the first time in a while and I like it a lot. I'm excited about playing shows. Cassie is probably going to book us a show at Arlene's Grocery opening for her boyfriend's band in January so that will be scary and exciting since I've only played & sang one song in front of people in college (though my professor asked if I "gigged out" which was a nice compliment :).

Speaking of Cassie, she moved in today with Colin, and she has a pug! So that will be interesting for Colin to have a new roommate who is actually home, and one with a dog. Colin wanted to get a dog if I moved in with him anyway so maybe Pugsley will satiate that desire for a while, hehe.

Yesterday Colin, Daniel and I took the Huffington Post bus down to DC for the rally, and met up with my friends Christina and Blake and rode the bus with them too. We woke up at 4am to be at CitiField by 5:30, though parking was a nightmare so we didn't get on a bus and leave until around 6:30am. Arianna Huffington showed up and walked over right near where I was waiting which was kind of funny. Got to see the sun rise and the gold color reflect on the city as we drove past it on the BQE and it was beautiful. I think I got sick for just yesterday because my nose got really runny and I was able to sleep on the bus the whole time and woke up at 12:45, still on the bus. Our driver somehow got lost (there was also a lot of traffic since 250k people were there!!!) so we didn't get off the bus until 1 and we didn't get to the mall until almost 2, and the rally ended at 3 (started at noon), which really sucked. Had I known we would've gotten there so late I wouldn't have gone, but it was still cool to be there and be a part of it. Luckily we didn't miss the Kid Rock performance ;) It was still cool to see all the signs and people's Halloween costumes (this one guy looked just like Gene Wilder in his Willy Wonka costume) and it was great weather that day. I didn't meet up with QKim or Andy but I didn't bother since my phone didn't seem to have reception and there was no way we'd find each other. I wasn't even sure where we were in relation to where the front of the rally was taking place anyway! So we got on the bus back and of course it took a while, but I was able to sleep almost another 3 hours. When we got home around 11 I was still not feeling great so we just stayed in since Colin had to be up early. Kind of a bummer but from what I heard from my friends' plans we didn't miss much.

Well I guess that's all for now. I have a physics test tomorrow and haven't looked at any of it since CMJ happened. I also need to clean my room which is a disaster, again since CMJ happened. But I'm not really too worried. Still need to get a new computer though, rar. What an annoyance.
