Thought I would touch base with the LJ universe!!
My schedule at the new job has finally settled down after almost two months and I have a somewhat stable roster. I still want to hire two more part timers so I can have some extra warm bodies by Christmas that know what they're doing....
I am still trying to participate in a Book In A Year project - writing a complete novel in 365 days, then submitting it to a publisher...I thought when I started that a year was PLENTY of time, but now October is looming and I'm nowhere NEAR where I'd want to be. All I can do is keep at it in my fewer and fewer spare moments between work and....trying to start an ETSY business!
Haven't been to etsy.com? GO! Scads of shops of ONLY handmade work only being sold by the artisan who made them. I am working on creating an inventory, but Christmas and my other commitments keeping edging it out. I didn't want to start until I had a proper inventory, but I may end up starting with nearly no stock, just for the sake of STARTING!
What else is going on? I am still obsessed with Anderson Cooper and his CNN show AC360. Generally I don't like American news - I find it to be too sensational for my Canadian tastes. They also have a habit of reporting rumours and calling them "allegations" so it sounds like it's news. ~~shakes head and sighs~~ However, Anderson is definately the BEST. He's also a cutie! :)
Other terrific persons on CNN are Tom Foreman and Michael Ware. Foreman shows up ALL OVER CNN! AC360, The Situation Room, he's everywhere! He's a great reporter - keeps it focused and isn't too sensationalistic, but keeps a sense of humour. Michael Ware is AMAZING. He is living outside of the safe "Green Zone" in Baghdad - with Iraqi families, going without power when they have no power, going without water when they go without. He braves the same checkpoints and threats of Death Squads that they have to deal with every day. He openly ridicules American politicians when they presume to tell "fairy stories" of American progress in the war.
Search youtube for "Michael Ware". You'll be impressed.
I haven't seen ANY of my fave shows in a full season! Haven't seen Heroes, Lost, CSI, Stargate: Atlantis, season 2 of Life on Mars, Battlestar Galactica...AAAAHHHHH! I have been relieved from having to keep up with Holmes on Homes only because they have been in continuous reruns!
I'm looking forward to the new season starting in October. I've heard it will be the last season. I checked out the cast roster on the Holmes site, and it's "Under Construction"! I hope my faves will stick it out for the last season! It just won't be the same without Pinky and Damon!
