I've had a bit of a crazy week, so I decided to have a lazy day today and slept in 'till noon. I then spent the day reading (Hexwood - awesome book) and watching Sense and Sensibility. I'm in a bit of a regency fix. I can't wait to get my machine fixed so I can work on my robe.
Anyway, I've been trying to wrap by brain around how the dresses close in S&S. They mostly all appear to close in the front with drawstrings which I'm a fan of. Makes it much easier to put on yourself! And I love the unbroken fitted back. But the front under the bust did not appear to be split in the front. Then I was on
jennylafleur's website and she had linked to a site with high-quality S&S screencaps, AND she had already figured out that all the dresses have fall-fronts. Duh! You can see in this cap.
Which is actually very similar to a dress in Costume Close-up. (Pg. 81) So I think I'm going to do that for the white dress I'm making to go under my red robe. Should be fun!
Also, I made an apron out of some curtains my Mum bought then decided she didn't want. It's entirely handsewn except for the hem which is from the curtains originally.
One check off my 18thc list!
