..oh, BTW

I also got some more progress done on the bustle dress. I'm looking in good shape for Wednesday.

I cut out and sewed on the bias ruffles to the overskirt, then decided I wanted to gather them, since the plain ruffles were a bit un-fluffy. I gathered and sewed the ruffles to the underskirt and they look great. Now I just need to take the ruffles off the over-skirt, gather them, and sew them back on.

I've been having a bit of trouble with the sleeves of the bodice, though. I've tried both the Hunniset and Arnold sleeve pattern, and neither turned out very well. It's probably just me, and not being used to period sleeves. Either way, it's getting a bit close to the wire so I might just fudge it and use a modern sleeve pattern taken in at the top.

So now my list of hings to do on the dress...

ON THE MACHINE
Re-sew ruffles onto over-skirt
Add ribbons
Finish sleeves and cuffs

HAND-SEWING
Add hook and eyelets to bodice
Sew buttons on bodice front and sleeve cuffs

I'm going to do all the machine-sewing and most of the hand-sewing this weekend, and maybe leave the buttons as a project for the car ride. I love to sew in the car.

That's all for now!
