That used to be chocolate but I thought it works better with blood, which may or may not have something to do with the reading I've been doing. If you are into vampires, were-anything, fairies and a lot of (supernatural)sex you may like these too.
Anita Blake Vampire Hunter 1-20 and
Merry Gentry 1-8 are by Laurell K. Hamilton
The Southern Vampire Mysteries/ Sookie Stackhouse Novels AKA True Blood 1-11 by Charlaine Harris
There are so many overlaps it's hard to believe they are not written by the same person, they even share the same horrendous dress sense for the characters. *vomits* But that is just about the only serious negative I can come up with.
Of course the books are like fanfiction in that the lead characters are total Mary Sue's. Non mainstream good looks (but no selfconfidence with men), supernatural mysterious powers and an army of the hottest fantasy guys drooling over them. In the case of Laurell Hamilton monogamous sex isn't high on her list of priorities (orgy anyone?). I'm still hoping for some nice bi threesomes to appear in Sookie Stackhouse, but I'm not sure if she dares to cross certain lines in those. Hamilton has gotten a lot of flack for all the sex, let alone the bi sex (and the BDSM and semi-bestiality).
Normally I don't like non monogamy in my romance but in these books it doesn't bother me at all, it's well written, there are metaphysical reasons for most of it and the main pairings are at least monogamous with the main lady.
I have seen most of the True Blood series one but the books are much more enjoyable. Far less torment and from what I've read they changed a lot of my favorite characters so the series has little to do with the books. For example the fairies are gorgeous, Claudine is a great fairygodmother and Eric Northman is a ruthless but good vampire (so far) who is wonderful with Sookie. Oh and while Bill screwed up royally he's still dependable.
So I don't think I'll be catching up with the True Blood series any time soon, too frustrating. But these bookseries I can read over and over. Total recommendation for any pervy females with a love for hot supernatural guys!
