Right I've forgotten exactly where I got up to in the last post and which events were covered and which weren't so I'll begin by saying; isnt the new media player looking rather slick? Does anyone else think so or is it just me? No offense meant to apple, but it is beating Itunes on the aesthetics score...
Then, with that out of the way, I'll just cover the last few days in a fairly swift fashion...
Firstly, Tuesday... I did... something... I've forgotten what it was... geez... memory isnt serving me very well here. Wednesday I went to see Abi in Sheffield, just before she went back to uni. We ended up running into Adam Barker and David Shaw (for those of you who dont know/remember those two, they were film studies/history students (I cant think of what their other subjects were)). and in a somewhat typical and amusing fashion, there proceeded a gathering of ex-tapton students. Jenny Cooper showed up only minutes later, on a completely different errend, not actually intending to meet up with us; and Tom Barker was supposedly on his way up from the train station when we left to continue our tour of Sheffield clothes stores... :S lol! Either way it was good fun and resulted in me spending very little... thankfully, as my accommodation bill has just come through today... :S
The afternoon saw me head back out into the valley to meet Joe and K at Joe's house. Much mirth ensued with the watching of various music videos and the consumption of pizza. It was a nice catch-up session and when K left, me and Joe decided Blade Runner would be a good way to pass the time. It was an... interesting film... not bad, and visually very stylish... Still it was possibly one of the most confusing films I've ever watched. It also highlighted the fact that nothing, NOTHING is ever original in the world of Hollywood (Dark City - Inspired by THIS FILM... :|).
Thursday afternoon saw me shopping (for some bits and pieces for uni) and cinema-ing with hazz. We shared a fantastic meal at Frankie and Bennie's before heading off to the cinema for Apocalypto. The film was interesting... I didnt realise it was entirely sub-titled, but it was an interestingly shot film and, whilst not being particularly action-packed (as one might expect from any film involving Mel Gibson) it was a gritty, realistic (Mostly... apart from certain scenes...) and generally well-made. Not what I'd call an "enjoyable film" as such, but certainly worth seeing... though waiting for the DVD release is also a valid option... to be honest...
And so, after helping with samegrazedknees' packing and saying goodbye for the last time this month (probably) I find myself here... I've jsut watched the Nightwish live concert which I got for Christmas on DVD... :O :O :O :O :O Oh yeah... its really THAT good.... Makes me wish I'd had the chance to see them live before Tarja left... SUCH A FANTASTIC GIG... A visual feast is the only justified, appropriate, un-insulting way to describe it... to say it was mind-blowing wouldnt too over-the-top... (yes... even though it was only a recorded version... not like seeing the real thing).
And with that, I think I shalt leave... Got steve's Birthday to be up for tomorrow, one more cinema trip... Woot!
