VAN...
Hmmm... several pieces of quick news to update - "bites" if you will...
Firstly, Music. Crucified Barbara (the CD I was waiting for) came today... They are absolutely freaking amazing, hard, ballsy, arse-kicking rock and roll. Superb! All female Swedish rockers... thats 2 good all female rock bands I've found from Sweden recently - those Swedes know how to rock!!! (images of head-banging vegetables now come to mind... doh!). Secondly on the music front, went to see VAN at the Boardwalk in Sheffield yesterday, and I must say they were impressive. One eccentirc manager (and damn I mean ECCENTRIC), four members and lots of cool riffs. This is a mate's band (Matt Nash's for those in the know) and they have a record deal but obviously are still at the clubs/pubs touring stage. I recommend anyone interested in modern rock (think the raw-ness of Arctic Monkeys, coupled with a not-so-obvious Sheffield accent in the vocals, and then think Jet -style musicianship with a hint of AC/DC thrown in...) and in the Sheffield area to check them out, definately. Could easily be "the next big band to make it out of Sheffield", as cliched as that sounds...
Finally, unfortunately we never got round to getting my camera on Saturday :(. Stupid banks... working several days in advance... :| Anyway, Best of the Month coming in a few days, by which time I should have it... maybe...
