David wanders out of the playroom. He heard someone come in. He knew it was Elaine. But he's very surprised to see that she looks sad.

"Elaine?"

Elaine picks up her head at the sound of a little voice. "Oh," she says, making a half-hearted attempt to wipe the tears from her cheeks, "oh, hello, David."

She smiles weakly. "What have you been doing?"

David walks over and gives Elaine a hug.

Elaine hugs him back, putting her cheek against his hair and kissing him. "I'm all right, sweetheart. One of my friends seems to have a...problem, and I am just very sad about it."
