Millitimed to Thanksgiving afternoon...

Ryan and Elaine have both been very busy this morning in the kitchen and around the house. They've been cooking, washing up, rearranging furniture, asking for folding chairs and small tables from Bar, and generally getting set up for a party.

Elaine's been using the back of her cookbook (Better Homes and Gardens, 1969) as a guide for setting up the buffet table, and is following it to the letter. Therefore, the setting is a little dated, but it looks quite nice and everything is where it should be.

There's a huge turkey, of course, and stuffing, cranberry sauce, salad, gravy, and potatoes. Elaine's never had sweet potatoes before, but they've been made and are out on the table. Elaine has outdone herself for pie. She's wondering how mincemeat pie will go over with this crowd. But if they don't like mince, there is also apple, pumpkin and blueberry. A couple of each.

Elaine would hate to think that anyone went away from their home hungry.

The dishwasher is empty and so is the sink, wine is being chilled, and they are now ready for visitors.

"I hope we remembered everything," Elaine murmurs. It's been a long morning.
