Been a while since I've updated. Kentucky was definitely a needed break. Flew out early on tues, but got to the airport too late to check in a bag (bye to my cold cream!). Amusingly enough, we got to the gate right as they called our names to get on the flight. (Yay!) Went and took a tour of the Buffalo Trace distillery. That place was really nifty cause they age the bourbon in warehouses with shuttered windows they use for temperature control. Damn but you can SMELL the bourbon on a nice day! There's actually a black mold that grows off the alcohol fumes covering parts of the aging warehouses and the trees in the area. We also got to watch them do hand bottling of one of their smaller lines of bourbon. I got a cork as a souvenir with a racing horse on the top. Ended up buying a bottle of 10 year old single barrel whiskey (think it's bourbon, but can't remember) and a bottle of organic grain, 7 times distilled vodka. Also brought back 3 bottles of wine made by a local wonery that we'll have to visit on the next trip and a box of bourbon balls. All in all, a good trip.
